I should add, I do not necessarily need to use sips either. However, any solution must be able to handle image files of unknown type (which sips does admirably) as no file extension is present on the files.
I don't have sips installed but itsmanpage indicates that it cannot readfrom stdin. However, if you use Bash or ZSH (MacOS default now) youcan use process substitution, in this example I use convert which isa part of ImageMagick and can convert different image types too:

Attempting to download and save rendered image from docker config of Grafana 6.6 and latest render images. See docker-compose below. I can download rendered images from every browser I try, but when moving to a script, I can only download images using curl from the grafana public demo site.
I suspect in this case the difference in behavior between play.grafana.com and running a local instance is that play.grafana.com runs in anonymous mode and does not require authentication, whereas a local instance (unless configured to run in anonymous mode) does require authentication. So that will need to be added to the curl request. Otherwise Grafana will present you with a login page.

If, having returned to Step 3, you still see policy violations and warnings on the base image layers, this may be due to the upstream maintainers still working on updating curl versions.
I'm attempting to migrate a system from a database (that needs decomissioning) to PW, and I've done a fair job of making something that will import data from the CSV exports using some perl to export the data, fix it up and then curl to import into the pages already created.
A lot of these pages have an image(s) associated with them, and I'm struggling to find a good answer on the best way to import the 4500 images. Currently I'm using curl to import the text data to the pages by sending POST requests to the PW edit page (they're all template based), but that doesn't seem to be the instant solution I was hoping for!
As a final thought, if I can't upload directly in this fashion, if I were to host the images elsewhere, is there a way to have the template check for the local version of a file, if it's missing, use some hidden field (I could populate that with a URL per image) to extract an array of URLs, and fetch them so they'd all end up locally?
I usually do stuff like that on a local copy of the target system where I can forego all the curl stuff and run a local PHP import script instead that uses PW's api. Then, when all that is done, I upload everything to the server.

Used @millipedia's code and expanded that, which also allowed me to import the other useful data in the data export to do a nice big single import (about 10minutes to do the whole thing on a local copy, the remote one via AWS is taking a little longer), and a heck of a lot faster than using curl and fishing out the TOKEN bits to work around the CSRF protection!
wget returns a non-zero exit code on error; it specifically sets exit status == 8 if the remote issued a 4xx or 5xx status. So, you can modify your bash loop to unlink the file if wget doesn't exit with success:
If I add an image field in mapping - containing a simple url to the image file - I always get a cURL error #1 when trying to import: cURL error 1: Protocol "public" not supported or disabled in libcurl (see -errors.html)
A side note - when I first did this, not knowing what would happen, I saw that Feeds generated a folder "2015-05" inside the destination site's public:// and dropped blank/broken image files. I deleted those files, since they didn't work, but I left the 2015-05 folder, then I cleared out my nodes and retried. The second time, the actual images appeared in the folder correctly.
After reading #2426185-1: Authorize.net error: cURL error: Protocol " https" not supported or disabled in libcurl and looking up my own curl settings (I'm using Acquia Dev Desktop as well) it seems like only the following protocols are supported:
We ended up doing the following:
Mapping -- set to reference by File ID, with existing file handling set to Rename.
Tamper (or edit your CSV file) -- put in the full URL to the file as suggested in comment #4 here -- also you will of course need to put your images into your public files directory (or a subdirectory if you use that in the URL). In most sites, that would be a URL of https://(your site URL)/sites/default/files/(subdirectory)/filename.jpg or whatever.
This is one of those things that I find much easier to do than to describe, but here goes! To create the result shown in the main screenshot, I made a triangle as Madame has described (except that instead of using the Triangle Tool I used the Pen Tool in Polygon Mode). I gave the triangle a fill but no stroke, and then I chose the 'Selection From Layer' option on the Select menu to create a selection around the triangle. After hiding the triangle (not strictly necessary, but it helps you to see what you're doing!) I rasterized the image layer and cut away the selected corner of the image. I switched to the Node Tool, grabbed the bottom right-hand corner of the triangle, dragged it upwards and slightly to the left, and then curved the upper two edges (mainly the one on the right). Finally, I applied an elliptical gradient fill (shown in the secondary screenshot) to give the page curl a little depth.
You can use the Lambda runtime interface emulator to locally test a container image function before uploading it to Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) and deploying it to Lambda. The emulator is a proxy for the Lambda runtime API. It's a lightweight web server that converts HTTP requests into JSON events to pass to the Lambda function in the container image.
The AWS base images and OS-only base images include the runtime interface emulator. If you use an alternative base image, such as an Alpine Linux or Debian image, you can build the emulator into your image or install it on your local machine.
