The Cancer Imaging Archive Updates : March 2024

Pediatric Datasets on TCIA

Pediatric Analysis

TCIA is pleased to announce the addition of a dedicated webpage under the "Research Activities" menu, showcasing the comprehensive collection of pediatric datasets available on our platform. This new webpage provides a summary of 8 curated collections, each expertly annotated to offer comprehensive tumor or organ segmentations across a diverse range of cancer types. TCIA is actively engaged in collaboration with the CCDI Data Catalog team to ensure seamless discoverability of TCIA datasets, even as new additions continue to expand our repository.

NCI Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) Datasets:

Expert-Generated Tumor Annotations

NCTN Trial collections

Discover the latest additions to the Analysis Results section on TCIA, featuring four annotated datasets derived from NCTN trials. These datasets encompass expert-generated tumor segmentations for hepatoblastomas, nasopharyngeal cancers, desmoid tumors or aggressive fibromatosis, and head-neck squamous cell carcinomas.

Did you know?

More than 20,000 visitors use TCIA’s resources each month. Those users downloaded 279TB of data in January 2024.

Collection Updates

Brain

"A Large Open Access Dataset of Brain Metastasis 3D Segmentations on MRI with Clinical and Imaging Feature Information (Pretreat-MetsToBrain-Masks)" has been published. It contains 200 subjects with MRIs, tumor segmentations, demographics and outcomes. This dataset is unique in its inclusion of many sub centimeter brain metastases. In addition, the dataset has many lesions with necrotic segmentations, which are historically not provided with dataset segmentations. Survival outcomes were also obtained, allowing for correlation of the imaging data with clinical outcomes.  Learn more in this Nature Scientific Data paper.

HE-vs-MPM

The "Multimodal imaging of ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion (HE-vs-MPM)" dataset offers pathology images and paired CK5/6 immunohistochemical staining images from 12 subjects for analysis and diagnosis of microinvasive breast cancer.

Prostate-MRI-US-Biopsy

The dataset "Prostate MRI and Ultrasound With Pathology and Coordinates of Tracked Biopsy (Prostate-MRI-US-Biopsy)" includes a collection of tracked biopsy sessions, with a significant portion involving the fusion of images with MRI targets. In the newly-released Version 2 of the dataset, diffusion-weighted MRIs have been added for 837 participants, further enhancing the comprehensive nature of the dataset.

New educational Tutorials

TCIA

Check out TCIA’s new Jupyter Learning Lab video. It addresses a variety of use cases for identifying TCIA datasets of interest and downloading them via Jupyter Notebooks. It is geared towards data scientists who have some basic experience working with Linux commands, APIs, Python, and Jupyter. You can follow along with them on your own machine here.
