The National Biomedical Image Archive (NBIA) software manages public repositories of images and related data, and handles the distribution of that data via the open internet.  The core archive of TCIA is based on this software.

To better gain an appreciation of how NBIA is currently being used, the NBIA Refactoring Analysis team is performing a survey of all know user of the NBIA software. This would include users of currently running NBIA installations, as well as previous installations, whether for production or evaluation work.

NBIA users, including TCIA users, are invited to participate in the survey to share their ideas of what functions an internet-based image and related data archive should have.

The ultimate goal of the NBIA refactoring analysis project is to revise the set of requirements that will guide future NBIA development decisions, and to evaluate the various open source software packages available today that might be able to fulfill those requirements, including the possibility of revising or replacing the NBIA software itself. Given that NBIA development began a decade ago, it seems appropriate to take a step back, see where we’ve been, explore new things that might be available, and assess where we should be going.

The survey can be reached at:

https://eSurv.org?u=NBIA

Please share your thoughts!  The survey should only take a few minutes.  Since the NBIA refactoring analysis project is on a short timeline, we would appreciate your response by 6 July 2015.

Thank you for your time.  Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
