Subject: Cancel GPAC May 15 meeting

All:

There has been a lot of activity surrounding the County’s reorganization in the past several weeks, especially in the newly created Department of Natural Resources and Long Range Planning of which I am the department head.  This new department reaffirms the Board of Supervisors commitment to the General Plan Update with a focus on the future.

County budget concerns, employee retirements and layoffs, and the physical logistics of the reorganization itself have required significant staff attention.  Due to these transitions, the GPAC meeting on May 15 is cancelled.  We will meet again in June which will provide for a more productive meeting.

In order to update you, the Board of Supervisors approved the preparation of a Hyampom Community Plan and the GPAC Bylaws. The Board approved in concept the Vision Statement however wanted input from the GPAC on wording detail and ways to publicize it.  The Board also received two applications for the vacant Stakeholder GPAC position and will be considering them on May 20th.  There continues to be a high level of interest in community and county planning from the general public.  Travis Finch, Colleen O’Sullivan and I will be discussing the website and how to improve its accessibility and will report on that at the next meeting.

I apologize about the need to cancel this month’s meeting, however in the long run we will be much more productive next month. I appreciate your understanding and please call me if you have any questions.

Susie
