Good Afternoon,
Formerly known as the Chicago Showcase, the America's Showcase is a select tournament hosted in Pittsburgh designed to highlight the talents and abilities of the high school ice hockey player. Now in it's 6th year in Pittsburgh, we are excited to inform you that we are now forming Team Washington DC. Attached you will find three forms that will help in the distribution of information. The "America's Showcase 2012 Rules and Eligibility" will answer any questions regarding regulations relating to the Showcase. Please thoroughly review the information to guarantee a player's eligibility to be selected to the final Showcase roster. The "Player Information Pages" contains all information regarding staff, tryout information, the Capitals College Hockey Fair, fees, and other pertinent information. The "Player Profile Forms" include all the information that will be necessary to begin the tryout process.
Please distribute this information to any player you think could benefit from a national showcase tryout opportunity and tournament. Please note that while all high school players are eligible to tryout and participate in the Capitals College Hockey Fair, only 11th and 12th grade players are eligible to be selected to the final America Showcase roster. Also, please be aware that our first tryout skate is this Wednesday, March 11th, from 5:40pm to 7:10pm at the Laurel Ice Gardens Patrick Rink. There is $120 fee for the tryout opportunity, which includes 4 sessions. In addition, we will be placing two teams within the Capitals College Hockey Fair. Basically, this means selected Showcase players will receive 8 sessions on the ice. Based on tryout numbers, additional tryout players not selected to the final Showcase team will be given the opportunity to fill the 2nd Capitals College Hockey Fair team at no extra cost. Needless to say, 8 competitive ice slots at $120 is a fantastic price point.
Thank you all very much for your assistance in the distribution of this information. We all know the high quality of player that exists throughout the DMV area, and we would love to have another strong showing at this year's tournament in front of a multitude of junior and collegiate scouts and coaches. Last year, we reached the tournament semi-finals, losing to the eventual tournament champions, Team Illinois. It would be most encouraging and exciting to match- or even exceed- last year's monumental performance. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Thank you again, for your collective effort in this matter.
Respectfully,
Robert Trantin
