If you have experimented with emerging educational tools (from AAC&U or other sources) and you would like to work with other educators around the state to figure out how to adapt them to ‘leverage learning,’ we are looking for you!

Texas is one of five states participating in the first phase of AAC&U’s Faculty Collaboratives Project – a project that seeks to engage educators in adapting and applying educational tools that have been developed by AAC&U, Lumina, and other nationally recognized groups – such as the LEAP learning outcomes, the VALUE rubrics, General Education Maps and Markers (GEMs), the Tuning projects, the Degree Qualifications Profile, etc..  While these tools have been developed and vetted by faculty across the nation, their practical application is dependent upon the creative work of educators within their own classrooms and settings. This project is designed to help educators leverage those or other tools, by building collaborative networks of users who can share ideas, strategies, assignments, and, yes, even difficulties, as they employ and perfect them.

LEAP-Texas has stepped up to facilitate the work.  We will be selecting five Faculty Fellows to facilitate statewide conversations around the various tools. Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $4,000 per year for two years and will receive travel support to project meetings. Fellows will engage with each other, with educators across Texas, and with Fellows in the other states to explore the ways that various tools can be put to use within and across academic programs. Fellows will help to convene creative conversations around the tools and to create a library of innovative examples, samples, and practices that can be widely shared.

As part of this project, each state will also create an Innovation Hub where the collective work of the faculty can be carried out, stored, accessed and refined, assisted by a Hub Director. The Hub will be an interactive space, offering opportunities for virtual and face-to-face forums and seminars. The Fellows form the spokes to connect this Hub to faculty throughout the state.

More detailed information and the application form are attached.  You are encouraged to apply and to send this call along other creative educators, so they might apply, as well.  Potential Fellows include the full range of faculty appointments – whether tenured, tenure-track, lecturer, adjunct or part-time.

Please send your application to Tiffany Hearne at tiffany...@tamucc.edu by May 22, 2015.

 Thank you!
