Does anyone have suggestions for finding Tilapia in the twin cities
area?

I found a place in Wisconsin that can ship them in the 1-day UPS
ground zone for a reasonable price. Has anyone tried this company?

I hear that the best way to avoid pathogens is to get your fish from a
reputable place.

Hi Dan;

I don't know any sources of tilapia here in the cities. The nearest
commercial source I know if is the one you link to below, RD Aqua
Farms. I haven't used them, but I have no reason to think they're
anything but good.

They do only sell male fingerlings, though.

The tilapia that I had were indirectly from Miami Aquaculture
(http://www.miami-aquaculture.com/tilapia.htm), and were the Rocky
Mountain White hybrid. They're a bit more cold tolerant than most
tilapia.
Prices listed on their website:
* Mixed sex fingerlings, 1", $1.00 each, minimum 150.
* Broodstock adults, 100+ grams, $35 each

Anything you get should be soon, though. I think we'll run into too
cold shipping conditions soon.

People might be interested in a combined order? I'm not currently
interested in tilapia, but someone else might be.

Thanks!
-Karen

I got tilapia a few years ago from a guy named Todd Scheuble,  his email address is tsch...@means.net.  He lives in Webster, which is about 45 min south of the Twin Cities, and he has a large variety of tilapia and koi.  He charged $2 per Nilotica tilapia (they were around 2" long at the time).  He has a nice aquaponics system going, so for me it was interesting to go there just to see that.
