Hello Twin Cities Aquaponics,
I've been a part of this group for a couple years now and I am always interested in the interesting projects you guys are involved in, and I though I would send you all a message about the project I've been working on. Earlier this year I started a company called Effortless Aquaponics to develop a small scale aquaponic system for the home, and this week I released it via Kickstarter to raise the funds needed to manufacture it on a large scale. The product is called
The Goldfish Garden and uses a unique bottom funnel design to transfer the solid waste that usually accumulates at the bottom of a tank into a planter above, providing nutrients for the plants; which in turn absorb those nutrients. The system works great for small fantail goldfish as a nursery tank when they are at their most sensitive because it has a high filtration rate and oxygenates the water extremely efficiently. The tank and planter are small enough to sit near a window for plant growth or there is a light accessory that can be purchased that provides light for the plants in darker areas like living rooms or offices.
