Hi everyone,

On May 18, several environmental and sustainable transportation advocates (including several TCAN members!) joined the RideFair coalition to send an Open Letter to Toronto mayoral candidates.

The ask of the candidates was to commit to ensuring City policies reflect our climate goals and reduce car dependency by regulating ride-hailing apps (Uber/Lyft) and promoting truly sustainable transportation alternatives.

You can find a copy of the Open Letter here: https://ridefair.ca/open-letter-to-toronto-mayoral-candidates-from-sustainable-transportation-advocates/

Today, we asked the campaigns to communicate their support by end of day Monday, June 5th

Ask of TCAN members: We would much appreciate any links, mentions and boosts of the ask in the leadup to the election!

Today: please amplify our tweet and facebook posts: https://twitter.com/ridefairTO/status/1663940316888715264?s=20; https://twitter.com/ridefairTO/status/1659257799354859521?s=20; https://www.facebook.com/RideFairTO (first post)

Between now and the election: Please consider linking to the Open Letter in your election-related communications!

After the election:  the City is about to introduce a proposed strategy to reduce emissions from the Vehicle for Hire segment (to be released ahead of a July 6th Economic Development Committee meeting) and we hope to be in a position to advocate for an effective strategy that aligns with TransformTO goals around sustainable transportation, equity and a just transition.  We may need help with emails/deputations – we’ll be in touch!
