Hello TCAN friends,

You are invited to an action on Monday morning to protest the Carney government's gutting of climate policy and pro-fossil fuel agenda.

When: Monday, 1 June, 8 - 9:30 am
Where: 108 College St.
What: Help distribute flyers to attendees encouraging them to ask real questions. Bring signs.
Why: The (RBC sponsored) kickoff event of Toronto Climate Week features Diana Fox Carney as the keynote speaker. Ms Carney is not the PM, of course, but she is there because she is the PM"s spouse.

This will be an opportunity to make it clear that the majority do not support the Carney government's gutting of climate policy in the midst of an accelerating climate crisis; the greenlighting of fossil fuel projects; the elimination of protections for endangered species; and the possible suspension of laws policies that protect health, the environment and Indigenous rights.

It is timely - the Liberal party consensus is breaking. Guilbeault just resigned and we know that there are many in the Liberal party who are uneasy about Carney's actionsMPs, under pressure from the public, can be reminded of their power - our power.

Please note - this is not an action against Toronto Climate Week and its organizers. Many of you are holding events as part of TOCW which is fantastic. Rather this event presents an opportunity to expand the potential of TOCW.

Hope to see you there,
Anne and Minh-Ly TCAN co-chairs
