Opportunity for Artists

Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel, invites area artists to
create traditional and mixed media artwork depicting the historic
hotel and submit their work into an art competition as part of the
hotel’s centennial celebration. One winning art piece will be chosen
and reproduced as a commemorative poster to be released during the
centennial festivities. The deadline for submission is Friday, Dec. 3
at 5 p.m. The winning original art piece will be auctioned off during
the centennial weekend to benefit the Galveston Arts Center.

The hotel will consider and review original, two-dimensional
traditional and mixed media artwork such as paintings, drawings and
digital imaging. Submissions should be no larger than 18 inches by 24
inches and can be presented in horizontal or vertical in format. Work
should be created on canvas, linen, panel, paper, board or a similar
flat surface and must include hanging hardware. All submissions will
be featured in a special exhibit at Hotel Galvez on Friday, Jan. 14,
2011.

Submissions will be accepted beginning Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday,
Dec. 3 and should be delivered to the G-1 Office, part of Mitchell
Historic Properties, at 305 21st Street, Suite 160, Galveston, Texas
