The tips of using board games into the EFL classroom are suggested as follows:

 

1. Set the objectives of the board game, for example, recognizing the letter names with the letter sounds, blending the letter combinations to form words and so on.

2. Prepare enough materials or sets of the board game for your class. Depending on the purpose of the game, the students may be divided into mixed-ability groups or grouped

    at the same level.

3.  Explain the rules of the board game and demonstrate them step by step. I usually have e a group of students demo the game.

4. Have the class practice playing a few rounds while walking around the groups to check if there are any problems.

5. Announce the start of the game. Set the time for playing. When time is up, the teacher may reward the winner of the groups.

6. You may adapt any board games to suit your teaching purpose, like playing the “Heart Attack” game saying the letter sounds instead of letter names.

1.我覺得除了現成的桌遊教具，也可以帶孩子一起製作，或以現成教具字、圖卡當桌遊教具。

2.可以將桌遊教具應用在差異化教學課程或補救學上； 除了補救教學可增添學習樂趣，在差異化教學配合課程進度，不同程度的孩子都有機會參與到桌遊應用在英語教學的「遊戲中學習」。
