I spoke with George yesterday on the phone.  We are a go with our usual room.

If we don't plan to use the entire space, his plan is to have a small N scale layout in there with us, but no big deal if we do plan to use the whole space.  We are more than welcome to fill it up.

Still working on the layout plan, but I think we can fill the room.

I’m planning to come. I’m happy to bring my roundhouse and turntable, which can fill a lot of space. Or I can leave them at home, if they fill too much space.

I want to come. It's been too long.
I can bring whatever.
(I am working on a memo for Ed and Gareth to better define Whatever.)

Sorry for not responding earlier. I am planning to come Friday to help set up and then come back to spend Sunday. I have that corner museum/bakery modular that I built from the London Bridge set and there is the Avengers tower if you want or need it. Both have appeared at Galveston before so you may want new stuff. I do have the ninjago city set/modulars built if they are of interest. Just let me know.

I'm still working on the layout plan, but it should be ready later tonight.

I don't know if we will use the turntable/roundhouse, but smaller buildings will be useful, and we'll need MOCs for the city.

First draft plan
16 full size tables (probably will need to use a drop table on blocks unless someone can bring one more from Austin)
1 narrow table
2 drop tables
2 or 3 mainline loops.

Left side facing the door, MILS town.
Mostly my buildings, short 3-stop trolley. Mini trains/train show on this end.

Center wyes and S-curve based on the modules I made for Brick Rodeo, with some mods.

Galveston terminal and yard in the same configuration as Brick Rodeo last year. Tower 17 at the end of the yard, between it and a wye.

Bridge section leads to a small interior space.

Right side town is on baseplates. I think we will need Steve's roads - and the top section by the Drive In  could extend to the left if there are enough pieces. (Steve, I'm not sure how many roads you have. There are several potential spots for the 3 baseplate bus/taxi stops). If we need to, we could probably blend different styles of road. I'm only using a small amount of straight roads, but I don't have any more curves or cul-de-sacs.

The ?? can be any modular type buildings people want to bring.

Steve's buildings: Trans Blue Tower, Tahoma, Dragon/Chinese restaurant, Docs buildings. Probably could bring the Deli (bottom-most ??) and Evil HQ.
Tony's buildings: Galveston station, Buhrman Pharr, Dinos, Mini trains, Tower 17, Bluebonnet fountain plaza.
Tim Howell's buildings: Drive-in theater, Library.
Tim Hutching's buildings: Avengers Tower, Tower Bridge Museum
Ed's buildings: Brixton station, Cafe, Chez2, Townhouses, Teahouse and Coral house, various plazas.
All small buildings/filler are welcome.

Looks good!  I can fill the ?? if needed - maybe Orange Building and Schoolhouse?

I can bring road plates (don’t know if they match Steve’s, but we can mix them as you said).

Do I need to bring any straight track or R40 curves?

I have a 30x30 table riser, should I bring that?

The riser would be useful.
Schoolhouse and baseball field are always good filler.

I've revised the town to use the Bayou Ballroom and Orange Building, and also Steve's Deli, Bakery, and Evil HQ.

I know it would be a hardship, but is there anyway to mirror the right half of the layout so the "good" side of Galveston with the palm trees, etc are closer to the public?

Edward

Should be possible. I think I just have to mirror the S-curve baseplates.

Okay. All those buildings are a go. I can just bring the whole box of road plates, and both bus stops? Or do you have a specific count that you need?

Should I bring
- any track?
- any trees?
- table covering?
- banner?
- toolbox?
- minifigus?
- vehicles? Surely at least a couple of buses.

What time will setup start?

Am I the only one coming from Austin this time?

Rev.2
We're now using both of the narrow tables, and the 3x3 square table and 3x3 riser.
Most of the right side of the layout has been mirrored north/south.
The approach to the terminal has changed to make room for the refinery.

Steve:
I would have track and trees as low priority- only if there's room. And then, start with the small trees/foliage.
I have table covering, so don't bring that.
We should have the vertical banner here also.
Bring the toolbox, because it's good to be prepared.
Minifigures are probably not necessary.
Yes, bring vehicles.

Derik:
The refinery should be facing north, so the right side corner may overlap part of that R104 curve.
Don't modify the module yet - we might be able to sit the refinery on a drop table.

I'm expecting to get to Galveston around 4-5PM... hoping for earlier but we'll see.
For set up, remember there's a big hill in the center of the room, so start the tables there lowered all the way, and raise the other to match.

Doc has two small buildings - one 16 x 16 and one 32 x 16 - that is, its long side is aimed toward the street. We can put the small one in the place indicated and use the other for filler.
Do you have a stock of flyers?
I assume I should bring at least one box of landscaped green baseplates.
Will we be able to do a Seek & Find?

Edward

I do not have flyers. Maybe Tony?
Yes, bring landscaped baseplates.
We can do a Seek & Find - Tim and Tony both have good items.

Tim (Howell) - we will not need R40 track.

Minor issue - because of the orientation of the Orange Bldg, it probably works better if it's swapped with Bayou/Bakery.  If that doesn't work because of the Bakery, maybe Orange could be shifted to the right, with a garden/park between it and Coral. I will also bring a couple 1/2-baseplate corner buildings that can help cover ends. We can probably figure that out onsite.

I can come up with some Seek & Find items if someone is putting that together.

What time are each of you arriving Friday?  I'm flexible, but I don't have any tables, so it doesn't do much good for me to get there early.

Oops, I can fix that. I'll probably be changing the row with the TH townhouses and swap it with the Cafe. A park at the end of that row would be good.
I think realistically I won't be loading up until around 3, so probably arriving in Galveston around 5.

Seek and Find:
If you are bringing something suitable for the seek and find (pop culture references, funny scenes/characters, etc.) post here to have it included in the list!

I may bring my little moc water tower to stick in someplace if that’s ok. It’s on a half baseplate.

Here are some Seek & Find items that I'll have (no need to put all these on the list, depending what others suggest):

- Schoolhouse Rock
- Batman at-bat
- Chris Pratt x6
- Pizza Planet truck
- Longhorn
- Mickey & Minnie
- Jingle Bells, Batman Smells ...

Derik - things like your water tower are good filler, shouldn't be hard to find a place for it.

Heads up - part of I-45 South to be closed this weekend.

I'm still planning to be there by 5:00 Friday - any reason to get there earlier?

I will be

Things for S&F -

Dragon (easy)
Our old friend the Tree Frog
Baby in stroller
Clown
Umbrella
Octopus (if the Sushi Bar gets stuck in as filler)
Chicken crossing the road
Eyefull Tower (apologies to Sava the Younger)

Another class of S&F thing is "unusual item." One that is findable by all ages.

Pop culture references are hazardous because they are so generational. I have had lots of kids go totally blank on Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, and even on Dr. Who. And some of us are too old to have a clue what Chris Pratt is, even if there are 6 of them. Mickey is probably safe, except from Governor DeSantis.

Le sigh! My room is in Texas City, so I will have fun getting there and back on the weekend days.

Since we have several train-owners coming, I'm only going to bring my Conrails (super reliable) and my Warbonnets (to sit with Tony's and look pretty). The rest can sit home and save space in the car.

Updated map.
Track counts are listed... Tony has enough track to cover all of this (will need 3 of his R104-120 curves, which I am bringing).
I think everything else we'll figure out there.

Derik, I put the water tower by the corner of the refinery. If you want it somewhere else it can move.
