For everyone who can make it, from Austin and points north and south, Houston, San Antone, wherever!

Time: noon to 9.
Place: my house in Buda, 150 Story Drive.
Date: TBD! December 11, 17, and 18 all look good here. Discussion?

There is lots of room. In past years, we have played games, Dirty Brickstered, and drafted. Each of these things would need an organizer.

Pot luck; bring whatever you would like to drink, and if you bring munchies to share, that is great. BBQ might happen if Pitmaster Tony can come.

If the weather is nice and others are interested, I might try to create the Texas Loop of ballasted RR track around the driveway circle. That is a mad aspiration and not yet a plan.

Hi Steve!

Thanks for the invite. I hope to come. The 11th or 18th would be difficult (but not impossible) for me to attend. Dec 17th would be best for me! It sounds like fun.

I will definitely bring some food to share.

If there is interest, I could bring some of our LEGO board games and other multiplayer games that would be of particular interest. What are some good (family friendly) games we want to play? (UNO & “Liar”, for example, may be good choices.)

Let’s break out those LEGO mugs and glasses and have some fun! 🍻

Thanks,
Christopher (Gears)

P. S. Ballasted track in the driveway is an EXCELLENT idea. How many Christmas themed trains can this group bring together??

Holiday idea! More trollies!!

Draft set suggestion (if sales or discounts become available): Holiday Main Street #10308. The trolley can be motorized.

I will probably buy this set to add to our winter village at home.

Thoughts?

Eh... I'm not super impressed. The buildings are pretty bland...it's supposed to be winter VILLAGE not winter mini-modular city.
And I have a trolley already..

The price point is ok though- $100 for 1500 pieces, though a lot of those are the little pips for decorations. It won't ever go on discount, but you might get double VIP or a GWP.

Looks like Sunday the 11th leaves the fewest people out. So mote it be! Please put this on your schedule.

And Tony says yes, he will come and do BBQ.

Bumping this, since it's less than a month.

Sunday, December 11. Noon to 9pm, my house, 150 Story DR, Buda. All AFOLs welcome regardless of affiliation or lack of same (wear your nametag and meet people!)

Tony Sava will create BBQ. If you would like to bring something for potluck, then a side dish, dessert, munchies, all are welcome. Bring your own beverage of choice.

As always, donations of small sets will be gratefully accepted for the hospital.

There is lots of room for drafts and Dirty Santa - who would like to organize those?

If the weather is fair, we can set up the garage free-build table for kids of every age, and maybe (finally) try the Texas Loop around the driveway circle. If the weather is not fair, we will stay inside and warm and play with Lego. As we do.

Passing this along… Michaela had volunteered via Discord to run a DB.

Thanks for hosting, Steve!

Thanks for creating, Tony!

May I please bring a couple small WIP models to share?

Thanks,
Christopher

Okay, updates!

We will have Dirty Santa courtesy of Michaela. The usual guideline is "an unopened Lego set, $25 or less, wrapped or at least concealed."

Kids are welcome! It’s not the same without them. I will “safe” the house as far as loose weaponry goes, not that there is that much of it. We will just have to depend on parental discretion to keep the glass and the Lego display safe. If the weather is nice, of course, the whole yard is available for burning off steam, as long as somebody keeps an eye on the pond so the kids stay above water.

Everything above is still accurate. I am looking forward to seeing you all!

We still don't have a draft planned, though there is space for one. If anyone wants to propose drafting, now is the time to throw your tiny plastic cap in the ring.

The current projection is for a warm, dry day! If that holds up, we can play with the Texas Loop outdoors; a place has been made ready. (If you have any trains you want to run on the Biggest Loop Ever, bring them.)

My evil plan for this year is NOT to build the Christmas village beforehand . . . but to take all the Christmas village parts to the big table upstairs so people can (gasp) actually play with Lego!

I don't see that plan . . . I have no problem with it but I don't see it. Am I blind, or is it someplace besides this group?

It was in another thread, but yes, I will be organizing a draft of the Queer Eye set.  It has been on sale:

For the draft:

If there is a limit of one set per person, I’ll participate.

If there is not, I have a set to sell at cost.

Any plan for when Dirty Santa / Brickster will be?

If we leave from Houston at 11:30, then we’d get there at like 2:30.

That is a very good point; both the draft and Dirty B. should give people time to arrive AND not make the early arrivals stay too late. Not that we were going to throw open the door and immediately do all the interesting stuff, but it’s good to be specific. Say, mid-afternoon? 4-ish? Any objections?

Steve,

Greg Jonason and I from the Houston Brick Club were planning to come to the Christmas party tomorrow.
Unfortunately our other life obligations are crowding our our Lego playtime this weekend and  we will have to cancel.
We really hate to miss it. We hope that everyone has a great time!

Right now it looks like the weather will be pleasant. So we can be outside as well as in.

Sorry you won’t make it, Jason and Greg. I hope all is well.

All, I was supposed to be in Austin by now staying with friends, but the weather has been frightful here in Rowlett/DFW. When standing still, the visibility last night was less than 50 feet due to thick fog. Today has seen pouring rain and constant lightening. Because my flux capacitor has not yet shipped from eBay, I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, and thus will not know what time I will actually arrive in Buda.

Hopefully weather will settle by morning!

Thanks,

Hi, Steve,

In past years I've needed a gate code to get into your community. If one is still needed, what is it now?

Thanks,

Thanks again to everyone who showed up. It was very fun for me. Thanks also to Michaela for Dirty Brickster with 44 players!

The final total head count, as I make it, was 49, plus Eric Dow from his hospital bed via net. Speaking of Eric, anyone who has a picture or video of the Texas Loop, please share . . .Eric would like to see it and I kinda forgot to take any myself!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Weird question, but if anyone found some cash at the party, I'm missing $110. It was in my pocket and  just trying to retrace my steps. Thanks y'all!
