The Buckeye Naturists Swim and Meeting

Dear TBN Members,

 

It is with deep regret that I must inform you of the arrest of our Club President James Mills for child porn and sexual acts with minors. Due to his arrest he is not allowed to have any contact with our swims. At the Have Sun Will Travel swim on October 6, 2012 the members of the Buckeye Naturist that were present had a meeting to discuss the situation. I was asked to serve as interim president until we can have a meeting and vote for a new president. We are not saying Jim is guilty or innocent; it’s just that it could take a long time for this to be settled.

 

In August Jim informed us that the Debit Card had been taken and used by persons unknown. He said that he contacted the bank and the Gahanna Police, and it was being investigated. This is the same Gahanna Police that arrested Jim so I don’t know how much investigation there will be about it. With charges on the card and penalties for being overdrawn our account is $1900 in the hole. I will go to the bank and talk to them and see what our status is. We do have in the money box $117 which should give us enough to pay for the October swim. At that swim we will have to have a meeting to discuss the future of the club and its leadership.

 

Please contact any members you know and tell them that it is important to come to the swim on October 20^th for a meeting to decide the future of the club. If the club is to survive we will need information to rebuild the membership data. Please bring your membership cards!

 

I am not interested in being club president and if you are not present at the meeting you could be nominated and elected! J So play it safe and come to the swim.

I would like some clarification on the nature of the arrest.  I believe "for child porn and sex acts with minors" might not be accurate.  It is my understanding based on reports on WBNS and WCMH that Jim has been informally accused of many things by many people and the media, including child porn, drugs, sex with minors, voyeurism, etcetera -- but he was only charged with "pandering sexually-oriented material to minors" at the time of the arrest.  It wouldn't at all surprise me if that alleged "sexually-oriented matrial" turns out to be naturist magazines, which I would argue should not be characterized as such. 

I haven't heard anything more about this in the last couple of weeks so I might be behind the news.  But in cases like this, suspicions and rumors can quickly become overstated, so I only seriously consider established fact.

Brad, David and TBN members:

I'm glad someone finally posted because they took my computers and phone with all numbers and emails. 

I apologize for this embarrassment to the club and to our great members. But you might want to know that a week later the prosecution dismissed the charges against me which were frivolous, sensationalistic and almost entirely untrue.

I have been kicked out of AANR for violation of their rules, but they do not say what the violation was. I will appeal this action. I did plan to offer to resign from TBN when I could contact someone. I see that you have already taken this step and I completely agree.

It is not true that I am not allowed to have contact with the swims unless that is a rule you have determined upon. If so, I shall certainly respect your decision.

I intended to at least reimburse the club for the amount in the checking account before the thefts - about $250.  But I have lost my clients in my consulting business and with pending legal fees I am not able to do that at this time.  My deepest regrets about the financial problems.

I do have some materials (envelopes, membership card forms and other records) which I will gladly give to whomever is authorized to get them.

I wish all of you the best and I hope I can get this behind me. I say to all of you: I never, ever dealt with child porn, had sex with an underage person or engage in the pandering claim.  I believe video evidence will support this, although I have not yet seen the videos taken by the security cameras in my house.

The claims against me were made by three youths, two of whom I do not know and believe I have never met. I believe they were prompted to make these claims by a man who wanted to rent from me, but I refused due to his bad reputation. He was resentful and threatened to "bring me down". At present he is facing charges for stealing my credit cards. He may be the one who stole the club's cards but that is not known.
