I would like to make the first discussion on "How to create
intercultural exchanges ?"

My propositions ;)
- Language exchanges :
There is a international network for this ( i know the one in Grenoble-
France ) : http://lei-web.com/?setLanguage=en
- Couchsurfing meetings ! For sure ;)
- "Ephemeral exhibitions" : Ask for an evening to people to bring 3-4
pictures of their choice for a exhibition. People can expose their
pics and comment to the others . At the end of the evening they bring
back their pics and nice memories ;)
- "Wine exchange" : Bring your favorite wine bottle and let's taste
them all... ok not sure of the result of the end of the meeting ;)
- "Youth in action" program from the European Community ( Georgia can
also participate... ) : http://ec.europa.eu/youth/youth-in-action-programme/doc247_en.htm
- Create events ... http://social.un.org/youthyear/index.html
More to come ;)

I really liked language exchange idea as well.
So perhaps, If there is anyone who is interested in language exchange
can start offering the languages that they can teach and languages
they would like to learn i this topic. And since we don't have any
proper place yet, we can offer our own houses maybe.
So I can start I guess, I can teach turkish, finnish, english and would
like to learn some basics of georgian of course.

I would like to give an example that could maybe inspire some of us.
In my University it was very common to do what they called "tandems".
For example one girl is a native spanish speaker and she wants to
learn french. She found that french speaking girl that wants to learn
spanish. So they meet every week one or two times for 2 hours. One
hour they will talk and learn spanish and one hour they will do
french. Both of them are teaching for one hour and learning for one
hour. I really like it because you don't need to pay anything for it,
because both of them benefit from it. Everyone gives and everyone
gets. And very often these tandems are very relaxed and it is more for
conversation. You can meet in a cafe or at home and just talk for 2
hours. But then it's up to each ones needs and wish, you can of course
also teach and learn grammar etc. I wanted to share this idea because
I think that in practice it is very easy to do.
But of course I also think that if someone is proposing to teach
Georgian, Russian or Turkish to a group of people, like teaching
useful words and phrases that could be very much fun! And of course
learning a language is also getting to know the culture!
So why don't we meet one evening or afternoon and everyone can prepare
some useful basic phrases in his native language, and if we come out
of this lesson we already know some useful words and something about
the culture and the habits! So if we go travelling this can help us a
lot! I think it would be fun! And then if people want to deepen their
knowledge, to do more intense courses we can organize more things
(group lessons or tandems).

So I am interested in learning useful phrases in Georgian, Russian,
Armenian, Turkish (the languages of the region).
And I am a native French and German speaker. But I also know Spanish,
and English of course. Ok I also know swiss-german, it is not exactly
the same as German, but I don't think it is interesting to know this
dialect, haha!

So if you want to have some fun and learning about your idealistical
and creative compadres' language and culture-lets meet and do it!
