Draft of the project

Values guiding the Project:
We believe that by coming together with ideas for creative and social
projects, open-hearted people from all over the world can make
positive change. Our differences as well as our similarities are a
great source of strength! Each of us has something to offer, and none
of us can achieve our aims alone. This space shall be free of any
racism, discrimination, non-tolerance and disrespect.
Aim of the Project:
To create and propel a social movement with idealistic values.
We want to create a dynamic and interactive space where motivated,
creative and inspiring people with different dreams and visions can
realize their philanthropic projects through the exchange of
experiences and ideas, through sharing and cooperating.
The goal is to find solutions to specific social problems and to
create concrete actions to address them at a grass-roots level.
Building a group for discussion of the most important issues is the
first step to finding solutions. Different perspectives on problems
can bring innovative approaches to tackling them. A meeting of minds
can also generate new ideas and innovative social behaviours. We want
to promote initiatives, creativity and concrete actions.
We will provide:
A space for discussion, sharing, working together,
A network through which ideas, expertise, know-how can be transformed
into projects to
We will need:
A physical space where we can work and organize our events and
activities (Building).

PROPOSAL FOR A PILOT PROJECT
The International Cultural Centre of tbilisi
CONCEPT:
To create and put into operation a self-sustaining, non-political
multicultural centre in Tbilisi, Georgia which offers a variety of non-
commercial community-based services and activities focused on the
sharing of international multi-cultural knowledge and experience.
OBJECTIVE:
To provide:
· the venue for local persons and travellers alike to learn
first-hand about the differing cultures of the world
· a social gathering place for communication among students,
artists and intellectuals
· a means and central location for the participation of both
residents and visitors in the cultural enhancement of the community
To promote:
· cultural diversity and education
· the sharing of international cultural knowledge through
participation in enjoyable and entertaining activities and services
· higher learning of varying cultural pursuits through
conversation and exchange of ideas in a safe and comfortable venue
· the fostering of creative thought and novel concepts for
beneficial social programs
To offer:
· culturally relevant programs, services and entertainment
events
· helpful resources to students and international travellers
and immigrants
· free or low-cost activities aimed at sharing knowledge of
individuals from varying cultures
· volunteer participation in activities aimed at assisting
society
· information and guidance in accessing other community
services and resources
LOCATION and VENUE:
The Centre will be located in an easily accessible commercial space
with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and decor in the centre of Tbilisi,
Georgia.
Strategically placed between Europe, the Middle East and central Asia
with its own interesting multiethnic history, Tbilisi is the ideal
location for people from the other countries to meet and learn about
each other and each other’s culture. Georgian society has long
encouraged and promoted higher learning and the pursuit of cultural
awareness. The Georgian government is supportive of a free-thinking
and tolerant society, and encourages tourism through a liberal visa
policy for visitors from around the world.

trains, etc.]
PARTICIPANTS:
Staff:
Other than one or two full-time employees who will operate the Centre
on a day to day basis, the Centre’s activities will be provided by
volunteers or persons whose efforts are funded by grants and/or
charitable organizations. Funding for the staff will also be provided
by revenues generated from the low-cost services and events offered
with a view to being a completely self-sustainable organization.
Educators (Volunteers):
Skilled educators will be recruited to offer seminars, lead discussion
groups and teach courses in the arts and various other cultural
activities. Volunteer activities will be provided part-time either
gratis or, where possible, paid for by government grants or funding
from international charitable organizations. Local businesses may also
contribute by providing their service to the Centre free of charge or
by offering free vouchers and discounts which may not only serve as
member benefits but also compensation for volunteers, while at the
same time serving as advertising for that local business.
As the Centre is intended to be non-profit, volunteers will be an
important component of the organization. In the same way that distinct
traditions of how things are best done are passed down through
generations, creating awareness of the traditions of other cultures
may benefit society by fostering beneficial cultural evolution and
change. Through open communication of ideas and the sharing of skills
and knowledge from diverse cultures, each volunteer may contribute in
his or her own way to multicultural awareness and social development.
Participants & Visitors:
The Centre will be open to any person interested in affordable
learning of other cultures, although it is anticipated that
participants will largely be made up of travellers, students,
intellectuals and artists. Each visitor to the Centre will be asked
to sign in and will have the opportunity to become a regular member
for a small donation which will entitle him or her to various free
services and/or discounts.
SERVICES & EVENTS:
The Centre will offer a diversified range of free or low-cost
activities from varying cultures, some of which will be offered on an
ongoing basis while others will be one-time or speciality events. The
specific services and events will be determined by both the needs of
the community and the skills which the Volunteers have to offer from
time to time. However, it is anticipated that the Centre will offer
at least some or all of the following:
Resources:
· resources for students, international travellers and
immigrants such as free internet, affordable translation services,
hostel discounts
· small item and clothing swap shop
· library and book exchange
· meeting place cafe with designated game area (chess/
backgammon, etc.)
