Chris,

Maybe setup a custom 'user.js' file that they can share that has the custom tags in it. Then have the file synced to their separate instances of Thunderbird so there is no collisions on the shared profile.

I've not actually tried this, but it seems like it would be a reasonably elegant way to fix the issue.

Hello Everyone,

I have two users in our customer service department, and the department
is growing.? There's a mailing list of customerservice@ that goes to
both users in that department.? There's always a running queue of
messages coming in, that need to be processed, or acknowledged or create
sales orders from a PO that comes in, etc.? They have custom Tags set up
that are named the same names with the same colors, etc (processing, to
do, complete, etc).? The Thunderbird profile folder for the account that
they use is stored on a samba share on the same mapped network drive for
both users.? This is the only way that I've been able to get their
custom tags and coloring to sync between both computers, so one knows
what the other one has processed and just completed, etc.?

The problem is all day, every day they both have a finnicky, or pausing
interface when using Thunderbird.? They will have situations where
Windows will think Thunderbird is not responding, it will pause briefly,
and sometimes it crashes.? Other times, when one tries to run a search
for a message no results are found.? They close Thunderbird then open it
back up, run the same search again and search results are instantly
available.?

They deal with these brief interruptions multiple times per day.? The
duration of the interuption is just seconds, so they don't think much of
it, and just close and open Thunderbird.?? I want to get down to the
core cause of why this is happening, does anyone know if another way to
get custom tags to sync between multiple PC's using the same email
account, with custom tags set up other than storing the profile on the
network?? Is this the recommended setup??

Any network troubleshooting suggestions on what to look at if this is
network related and nothing to do with Thunderbird?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Chris

Hello

Short answer:
Do nerer ever share Thunderbird profiles between multiple Thunderbirds!
You can even corrupt them, by doing that.

Their custom tags will not change daily, therefore you could get them
and distribute them, when setting up a new Thunderbird.

I also would advice to use a ticket system instead of mail for such work
scenarios.

Kind regards,
