Hello enterprise users.
Automatic updates are coming soon to migrate users from version
68 - within the next couple weeks. You will want to have someone
in your organization test version 78 now to avoid surprises when
your users are eventually updated. Even if you have some
experience with 78, additional inspection can help unearth
additional issues that we can then fix. Automatic updates will
probably begin with 78.2.1 in just over a week from now - it will
not happen with 78.2.0 as was originally planned.
Specific ways in which you can help:
** Note, if you use a profile with version 78 you will not want to use that profile with version 68. If you need to go back to version 68, plan on using a backup or seperate profile.
If you need the Provider for Google Calendar aka gdata provider,
try the fresh version at https://github.com/kewisch/gdata-provider/releases/tag/v78.0
The most recent fixes and improvements are listed in the 78.2.0 draft release notes and Bugs fixed
since 78.1.1. See the prior release notes of 78.0,
78.0.1, 78.1.0, and 78.1.1 to see the
extensive list of what has already been delivered.
Please report new bugs. If you see a
performance issue please include a profile with your bug
report. For further insight see the list of open
bug reports for 78 and click "view as bug list" to view in
full column format. (not all of these will become confirmed bugs)

1. (if you wish) Do clean install of Thunderbird in a new
user account on your OS (or VM), into a NEW program
directory, and using a new Thunderbird profile. (On Windows, try
an account that does NOT have admin privileges.) OR use an
existing profile after backing it up. (Note, win64 will install
into the x86 program directory, which is expected.)
2. mouse over every menu and also randomly test submenus of File, Edit, View, Go, Message, Tools, Help, etc, in both the appmenu (aka hamburger menu) and the mail toolbar menu (enable menu bar, View | Toolbars | Mail Toolbar)
-- tip to save time - open Account Settings just once and create
all account types at the same time: imap, pop, news, and rss, then
test each later --
3. mail - add pop and/or imap accounts, send from each to the
other, check you can get+receive mail.

7. chat - if you are familiar with chat, please test some basic functions
8. CALENDAR - if you are familiar with calendar, check basic functionalities, plus as far as you can take it. For examples see [1]9. Themes: try the light and dark theme at tools > add-ons > themes
10. Attachments: Work with attachments - adding, opening, saving:
12. Message compose: check that these work well: addressing UI,
