My girlfriend, Vanessa Calvert, is also my spotter. We make a great team and I am very thankful to have her supporting me. She spends hours upon hours talking to me on the radio in hot weather, all while taking notes, looking at videos and checking speeds, just so she can see me succeed and help me live my dream.
We wanted to create something that looked big and professional while still retaining a privateer budget. Falken Tire has helped tremendously in making this possible and really taken me under their wing. I am very blessed with the opportunities they have given me and look forward to building an even stronger relationship with them.
Walker: I was always very competitive when I was growing up. My father raced motocross his whole life, so I was raised in a motorsport environment. I started racing motocross when I was six years old and rapidly progressed.
Another reason is I try to be as personal and approachable to all my fans as possible. I enjoy responding back to each of them that writes me as well as spending time with them at the track. I believe this creates a sense of loyalty. No fan should ever be scared to approach a driver thinking they are too cool to talk to.
Walker: My qualifying runs went pretty well. This whole weekend my car ran awesome and I felt very confident and consistent. I got the track down by my second or third practice run, so each run after that I was consistently trying to perfect every little thing I could.
On my second qualifying run I rode the whole high-line on the bank, had a wide line coming off, did a snappy transfer along the power alley wall and tapped my rear bumper, filling the whole outer zone. The run felt amazing and we ended up qualifying eighth with a score of 86.
On my lead run I was really high on the bank. Coming off the bank I was closer to the wall then I had ever been. I flicked my car along the wall through the power alley but had just a tad too much speed. This caused the rear of my car to hit hard enough that the front got sucked in.
Larry: It seems every round of FD this year has seen some major controversy. I know you did not get to watch the Conrad and Daigo battle personally, but I know like all drivers you are reviewing the live-stream footage. What do you think about the false restart rule and what Conrad did?
Walker: The judges really emphasized the last corner where Aasbo went off track. So as much as I love Frederic and no matter how awesome his lead run was, I think the judges made the right call.
I just really wish the judges would have started penalising going off-track a lot sooner.. like in Atlanta. If this was the case in Atlanta I would have beat Daigo Saito in our One More Time battle and got my first podium ever.
Larry: It seems Ryan Tuerck is running a similar program to you. I know you already have a fourth place under your belt but does it give you more hope that an old chassis run by a privateer can be competitive?

At times, the candidates Tuesday had a standard Republican debate, all saying they would welcome a potential U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade and declaring they want a total ban on abortion.
On June 14, an estimated 15,000 people gathered in Brooklyn to say Black trans lives matter. Called the Brooklyn Liberation by organizers, people took the podium at the rally to speak in support of Black trans people and against the epidemic of violence the community faces. Here, Ceyenne Doroshow, founder of GLITS, reflects on speaking at the historic rally in an essay as told to writer Harron Walker.

I never thought I would live to see the day when I thought my life was complete, but as I marched I felt that to be true. I never need to do Pride again, frankly. This was better than Pride! The New Zealander won her quarterfinal in impressive fashion after storming out of the gate to lead throughout, and was second behind American Felicia Stancil in the semifinal in a photo finish by just 5/1000ths of a second.
Ted Budd has skipped four Republican primary debates in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina. GOP candidates for governor in Ohio, Nevada and Nebraska also have refused to engage with their opponents from the debate podium.
But some of the Republicans who are still engaging in the process say that skipping debates could ultimately leave the eventual nominees vulnerable in a general election, unprepared to answer tough questions or engage with rivals in a way that could appeal to voters beyond the party base.
Walker holds a commanding lead over his rivals heading into the May 24 primary. His campaign has not granted The Associated Press an interview despite repeated requests, including for this story. But after facing criticism from rivals at the first Georgia Republican Senate debate in April, including about his absence, Walker told North Georgia radio station Access WDUN that his opponents were jealous.
Though many of those who have skipped debates are Republican, some Democrats have followed a similar strategy. In Pennsylvania, which holds primary elections on May 17, Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman skipped a debate last month, saying he chose to participate in three other debates because they will have wider reach on television.
Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and his Republican challenger, Herschel Walker, will meet Friday night for their only debate in Georgia's marquee Senate contest, just days before in-person early voting begins.
"Raphael Warnock will have to answer why he has voted 96% of the time with (President) Joe Biden, giving usrecord-high inflation, all while doubling his own income," Walker aide Will Kiley said, previewing now-familiar assertions from Republicans.
Warnock's campaign manager, Quentin Fulks, wrote in a memo that the debate will highlight Walker's "pattern of lies, disturbing behavior, and positions" that "prove he is not ready to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate." Fulks added, however, that Warnock would highlight his nearly two years in the Senate as proof he "will work with anyone to help the people of our state."
Those previews track ground that Warnock, the 53-year-old pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, and Walker, the 60-year-old former college and professional football star, have staked out in a midterm election that will help determine which party controls the Senate for the final two years of President Biden's term.
Warnock and fellow Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff won their Senate seats in a January 2021 special election two months after President Biden won Georgia by fewer than 12,000 votes out of 5 million cast. That was the first time in two decades Democrats won federal elections in the historically-conservative state, raising questions about whether Warnock can replicate his victory in a midterm election, especially with President Biden's popularity down among Georgia voters.
Walker has seized on that landscape, caricaturing Warnock as a rubber-stamp for the administration. Warnock's answer has been to emphasize legislative accomplishments in Washington, with a focus on provisions he sponsored capping insulin and other health care costs for Medicare recipients, Democrats' extension of the child tax credit and infrastructure provisions that Warnock shepherded with Republican colleagues.
A major variable in the debate is how aggressively Warnock chooses to directly attack Walker on various allegations and disclosures that have surfaced throughout the campaign. The senator typically has defaulted to his broad assertion that Walker is ill-prepared for office. But debate moderators could inject more details of Walker's past.
Recent reporting by The Daily Beast disclosed records of an abortion receipt and a subsequent personal check from Walker to a woman who said the celebrity football icon paid for her abortion when they were dating. Walker, who as a candidate backs an outright national ban on abortion, continues to deny the reports, even after the woman identified herself as the mother of one of his four children.
Other reports, including from The Associated Press, have detailed how Walker has exaggerated his academic achievements, business success and his philanthropic activities, as well as accusations that he threatened the life of his ex-wife that go beyond details Walker himself acknowledged in a 2008 memoir and subsequent media interviews. Walker also acknowledged three of his children publicly for the first time only after earlier Daily Beast reporting. Before his Senate bid, he'd spoken publicly only of Christian Walker, his adult son by his first wife.
