(A quick recap: we fixed up all our new friends' legs, moved on past
the evil lab, pretty immediately found The Axe, watched some Dark Elf
slaves be forced to try moving it and get turned into various pathetic
forms, and then went through the portal. We met yet another friendly,
outside-the-prison man who knew Cara and helped us out. After a
couple days of rest and helpful equipping, Dargon decided to try to
pull The Axe, under the agreement that the friendly man would put him
into Flesh Golem Orzo's body if he got turned into something
pathetic. Dargon failed to pull The Axe, and was transformed into a
blindingly handsome Elf. After spending a few hours alone, Dargon is
ready to talk.)

Awright, I guess I'm ready for that "discussin'" that Tirris was so
hot to get to. First off, let me say "thanks" to everybody but Tirris
for realizin' that I obviously didn't want to talk about this, an'
lettin' it go. I appreciate it.

So, yeah, Tirris, I was horrible, and gettin' more horrible. Our
Celesti-pals told me that the l... lie-canopy was stronger in my blood
than in others. Me, I saw it as a muscle, you know. I spent my whole
life tryin' to ignore it, pretend it wasn't there, tryin' ta fit in.
But then, we got stuck in this place, an' I started to have to flex
that muscle all the time, an' it just kept getting stronger. I saw
what was happening, but I couldn't stop it, because I had'ta keep
shifting to keep us alive. So, I just kept ignoring it, pretendin'
like there wasn't a problem, an' that would make it okay. If not fer
that Axe, I don't know where it would've stopped, what I would've
become, what I might've done to you all if I'd lost control.

But now... this. I'm not some savage who's gonna die of old age at
60. I don't have to shave twice a day, plus after every time I get
mad. Hell, I don't think I could even ever get that mad again...
That beast in me that I kept tryin' ta keep down is just... gone.
This is all that I've ever wanted, an' it's all thanks to Chaon. I
wanna learn about him... anybody know anythin' that they could teach
me?

(Aside: I do not think Rich properly conveyed the "blindingly" part to
me on the phone; this might have changed things very slightly, but I
will leave this hilarious reveal until later!)

Hey, now, come on, now, Dargon; until we last discussed this, it
hardly seemed like you did not want to talk about it! If anything, it
seemed like you were just not aware what was going on. Though
certainly that became harder and harder to imagine as things
progressed. Dargon, we have been friends for ages, and I wanted
nothing more than to help you figure out anything that might have been
strange in your past. That was what the whole ring-sharing thing was
all about, after all. No, I know, not THAT ring-sharing thing. That
is hardly sharing, now is it? It has always been mine, and you know
that perfectly well, but that is not important right now.

Also, if you would not mind, could you not smile so dazzlingly at me?
It always seemed I was attracted to vaguely-female shaped changelings,
but I must admit I am having some strange feelings.

This Axe certainly seems to be a particularly wonderful discovery; I
am more than abundantly glad that we found it, particularly since you
were the one pushing to find it so eagerly. Hmm. Is everything that
touches this axe getting turned into something pathetic, other than
you? Maybe your minor shape-changing ability gave you the ability to
choose your elf-form. Maybe if I tried to pull it out, I could turn
into a real human! Hmm. Hmm.

(Secondary aside: Before trying to get the Axe, Dargon had divested
himself of all gear other than one amulet [of which there is no sign,]
including passing the Guards' Signet Ring to Tirris)

Well, yeah. Since it is hardly a problem now, I don't mind admittin'
that I was pretty much just pretendin' not to know what was goin' on.
That is, I didn't -and still don't- know WHAT was goin' on, really,
but it was pretty well clear that somethin' was goin' on. I was just,
ya know, embaressed, so I was pretendin' not to have a clue. I
actually did need some clarifyin' about some of the stuff that
happened when I was really angry, though, like that thing with
Aridel. It's pretty obvious now that it was just a mistake... well,
three mistakes, and he just didn't want to admit it. If we weren't on
another deadline, I'd want to track him down and apologize.

An', sorry, I think I'm pretty well stuck on 'dazzling' from now on.
Hell, I ain't sorry. I make one good-looking Elf.

This Axe is pretty well the best thing that's ever been. All them
freakin' Dark Elves that touched it turned into strange, useless
stuff, like that candy tree, or the bunnypede. I bet Chaon was just
punishin' them for, you know, bein' freakin' Dark Elves. That Master
Trader guy, though, he did say that I prolly came away better than
anyone else who'd ever touched it. Goin' in, I was bankin' on the
fact that I am.... er, I guess that should be "I was..." descended
from lycanthropes, an' the guy who left the Axe there supposedly had
all sorts of lycanthropy. But I guess shape-changin' makes almost as
much sense as that. If nothin' else, the Master Trader was willin' to
stick my mind in our new Orzo if things went really bad. He might do
the same fer you, if you wanna give it a shot. Although, come ta
think of it, that was gonna be in place of me gettin' anythin' else
from him, and fer some reason I can't remember if you got anythin'
from him or not.

Of course, I was just expectin' that I'd be able to pull it out and,
you know, cut things with it, not get changed an' have it still
hangin' there. And, if we was talkin' changing, I would've thought
I'd wanna be a Human, too, least until I found out just what a great
Elf I make... Well, hey, go for it if you want to, Tirris... just be
sure to let me hold that ring before ya grab the axe. Oh, and light a
smokestick for luck, if you've got one. It sure helped me!
