February 25, 2026 - NEWSLETTER

Panther Families,

The Spring Lake Park/Centennial Girls Hockey team was beyond impressive this past weekend. Although the outcome wasn’t what they had hoped for, their grit, determination, and never-give-up attitude were on full display throughout the entire tournament—especially during the championship game.

After scoring three goals in the third period, one of the players shared, “We just needed more time.” That mindset says everything. This perseverance will serve them well far beyond the rink, and I couldn’t be more proud of this group of students who represent our community so well. Way to go. You made us proud!

This week is full of Panther Pride! I hope you are finding ways to participate in the Panther Foundation’s Week of Giving—whether through dining-to-donate opportunities, the silent auction, or dress-up days. We still have Thursday’s Blue Out and Friday’s Panther Spirit Day. The Panther Foundation supports so many fantastic opportunities for our students, and we are grateful for the way our community comes together to support our young people.

Finally, the end of Trimester 2 is approaching on March 5. Teachers will be available for virtual conferences on Thursday evening, 6-8 p.m. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to connect about what’s happening in a class.

Proud to be a Panther,

Megan Jahnke

The Making of a Teacher

Just a few years after graduating from Spring Lake Park High School, Adelynn Lier is back in the district - this time as a long-term substitute teacher at Centerview Elementary. Her journey began in the high school’s Teacher Education course, where hands-on classroom experience helped turn her interest in teaching into a clear career path.

Through real-world student teaching placements, college-level coursework and mentorship from educators across the district, students in the Teacher Education program explore what it truly means to lead a classroom. For senior Vanessa Barry, that experience has come full circle at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion, where she now student teaches in the same school she once attended as a kindergartener.

Part of the Health and Human Services Pathway, Teacher Education allows students to earn college credit, gain practical experience and discover whether teaching is their calling - all before they graduate.

High School Registration: What's next

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year closed last Friday for our current 8-11 grade students. While this initial registration window is closed, we still have a few checkpoints before next year:

  • Week of March 30: A confirmation of course choices for 2026-2027 is sent to homes. Students and families can check the choices and make adjustments as needed.
  • August: Students receive their final schedules. This usually happens the week before school begins. Schedules are posted in Campus and available at a Back to School event at the high school.

If your family has any questions, please reach out to your student's counselor.
