Panther Families,
I hope everyone had a great spring break and is ready to kick off a new trimester! Senior families, if you have any questions about graduation status or course requirements, please reach out to your student’s counselor. We know this is an important time of year for our seniors!
Over break, several of our students competed at the HOSA–Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference. HOSA is a national student organization that supports students interested in healthcare careers. Competitions give students the opportunity to apply their learning to real-world scenarios.
At these competitions, students begin with a written assessment covering medical knowledge and procedures. Those who advance must demonstrate their skills with precision. Events may include performing clinical skills like CPR or patient care, solving case studies, completing exams, or working in teams to respond to emergency situations—all evaluated by healthcare professionals and educators who provide authentic feedback.
We are proud to share that the following SLP High School students placed in the top three in their HOSA events across the state: Fefe Hammouri, Aurora Miller, Lucie Dusosky, Nimo Shaie, Gabby Bekele, Tayde-Ruiz-Nava, Riley Elton, Kristiana Lundgren, Andrew Higley, and William Quialla. The future of medicine is in good hands with these young people a part of it.
Please remember there is no school this Friday, March 20. We’ll return on Monday, March 23, ready for a full week.
Proud to be a Panther,
Megan Jahnke

In the "How to Make Almost Anything" Class - a Giant Hockey Stick!
11 students in the How to Make Almost Anything course (through the Technology, Engineering & Design pathway) partnered with SLP Youth Hockey for a special project. This giant hockey stick structure was used at the Mite Jamboree with 150-200 young athletes taking their picture next to it. High school students worked on it for about 3 days and one of the best parts of the collaboration is that it's designed so signage can be switched out and used for multiple age groups and events. Nice work, students!

When Math Feels Like Play, Learning Adds Up
Second graders are sprawled on the floor in pairs. Some groups are working with small buckets of shapes – hexagons, trapezoids, rhombuses. Some groups have plastic coins and cards. Some have spinners. There is an air of fun and competitive excitement. This is math work places.
Math work places are hands-on, engaging, and often game-based math stations used in K-5 classrooms to practice skills, develop conceptual understanding, and foster fluency. They are a part of the Bridges curricular resource that Spring Lake Park Schools’ elementary classrooms use for math.
Take a tour of some popular math work places and hear from teachers and students about this whole concept of math workplace.See the full story.
