Panther Families,
We welcomed the 8th graders from Westwood to experience the high school on Tuesday. Our Panther Mentors, current sophomores and juniors, were absolutely phenomenal. It was incredible to see students leading students through tours, discussions, and team-building activities throughout our building. I was beaming with pride watching them interact with and welcome our future students!
We welcome families, K-12, into the building next Wednesday, May 27 for the Youth Expo. Stop by the Panther Gym, 5:30–7 p.m., to explore activities, athletics, and clubs available to youth in grades K-12 across our district, through both our schools and the broader community. Drop in any time for an easy and fun way to discover everything available to your family.
Tomorrow, I hope you will share your thoughts in our last pulse check of the year. Watch for an email and/or text, and please take a moment to share your experience and thoughts. Your feedback helps shape our planning for next year, and we truly value your perspective.
There is no school on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day). Enjoy the long weekend! As we head into the final stretch of the year, it's a great time to check in with your student on how things are going and where to focus in these last few weeks.

Return library books by May 29
As we wrap up the school year, please help your student return any library books they may still have checked out. All library books should be returned by Friday, May 29.
Students will receive a notice listing any outstanding library books. Check with your student to see if they received one and help them look for missing books at home, in backpacks, classrooms, or lockers.
If a book has been lost, replacement costs will be listed on the notice. Payments can be submitted to the main office so we can purchase replacement copies for our library collection.

When Interest Drives Learning
Students who co-designed their learning for STEM and Humanities credits showcased their work for the school community. Students working on projects of interest to fulfill requirements. Examples included - exercise science and physical training, communication for, reading and learning about Carl Gauss and the Gaussian Integral, composing compositions and albums and more. A common takeaway from the co-created classes was that motivation and self-direction in completing the work is enhanced when you're really interested in the topic!

SLP Fishing Team
The Spring Lake Park Fishing Team opened its 2026 season on May 17. Anglers will compete in the Minnesota Jr. B.A.S.S. Nation high school division and the Student Angler Tournament Trail, facing top high‑school bass teams across the state.
To kick things off, team members Vinny Santiago (11) and Ryan Anderson (10) represented Spring Lake Park at the Strike King Bassmaster High School Tournament on Robert S. Kerr Reservoir in Oklahoma, competing against many of the nation’s strongest high‑school anglers.
Wishing the team a successful and exciting season ahead. Those interested in joining can watch for registration in late fall 2026 and an informational meeting in October 2026.

Free College Application Boot Camp for the Class of 2027
College Application Boot Camp is free and for all incoming seniors (Class of 2027) who plan to attend a tech school, 2-year or 4-year college after high school graduation. The first session of boot camp is also for anyone who is simply just undecided about their plans at this time. This camp is for all seniors but directed to those who have questions about applying to college and would like one-on-one help from counselors and other admissions professionals.

1,100+ Students, 40 Courses, Endless Career Possibilities
More than 1,100 Spring Lake Park High School students explored future careers and gained real-world, work-ready skills this year through Career and College Pathways courses this year.
With 40 courses spanning Business and Entrepreneurship, Health and Human Services, and Technology, Engineering and Design, students are discovering their interests through hands-on learning experiences that connect directly to life after high school. From pitching business ideas to community professionals and earning healthcare certifications to building homes and designing with robotics and 3D printers, students are learning by doing.
Pathways courses continue to grow and evolve to meet student interests and workforce needs. This year, courses like Personal Finance and Money Management, Nursing Assistant, Construction Trades, Teacher Education and Mechatronics gave students opportunities to earn college credit, industry certifications and valuable career experience while still in high school. Students also benefit from internships, service learning, mock interviews and career planning support that help prepare them for future success — whether in college, the workforce or both.
