Good morning,

My name is Jamie Ramirez and I am your child's U.S. Government teacher this trimester. I wanted to reach out with information and expectations for the course. U.S. Government is a one-trimester course, required for graduation. Throughout the trimester, we will cover 4 units of study focusing on political participation, government functions, civil liberties and civil rights, and international relations. We are currently in our first unit of study, focusing on political participation and linkage institutions; we will finish Unit 1 next Thursday, April 2nd with a unit test.

The syllabus can be found in your child's Schoology course, which outlines more specific details about this course. Please note that students have 5 school days (1 week) from the day an assignment is due to submit that assignment for credit; after the 5-day period, the assignment will lock and will not be eligible for credit. Attendance is very important as we have a lot of information to cover this trimester. Please encourage your child to attend class each day, to insure they do not fall behind. If they miss class, they should check Schoology for missed assignments and reach out to me with any questions they have.

If you have questions about the course, please let me know.

Thank you,

Jamie Ramirez
