Dear Friends,
Greetings of peace!
On June 24 (Sunday), young Muslim and Christian leaders from four grassroots communities--from Tala in Caloocan, Culiat in Quezon City, Quiapo in Manila, and Maharlika-Bicutan in Taguig--will engage in a friendly exchange of reflections and convictions on why they are Muslim or Christian. This is one of the activities of the 10-month training workshop program on BUILDING MUSLIM-CHRISTIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP IN GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY PEACEBUILDING which is currently being facilitated by The Peacemakers' Circle in partnership with the Australian Embassy, Manila under its STRENGTHENING GRASSROOTS INTERFAITH DIALOGUE AND UNDERSTANDING (SGIDU) Program.
This activity aims to help young Muslim and Christian leaders gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for their respective faith traditions, and be confident about engaging in Muslim-Christian Dialogue and relationship-building in their communities. Being able to introduce oneself with quiet confidence and conviction as Muslim or Christian is one of the essentials of the peace- and relationship-building endeavor. Rootedness in ones faith is the foundation on which interfaith dialogue practitioners are able to build bridges of mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.
Sixteen Muslim and Christian youth leaders have been preparing (for one month!) to engage in friendly dialogue with each other on who they are and why they are Muslim or Christian. They have been searching for passages/surahs from the Holy Bible and Holy Qur'an that would help them best describe their faith to each other; and they are excited, nervous and looking forward to this experience of "sharing" their faith with all of you.
Please come and support their faith-building efforts! Join us on June 24 (Sunday) from 2-5 in the afternoon at the Ugnayan Hall of the PhilDHHRA Partnership Center, 59 C. Salvador Street, Varsity Hills, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. This is open to the public, and everyone with peace at heart is welcome!
Simple snacks will be served. Please confirm your attendance on or before June 21 (Thursday). You may contact us through email address: thepeacema...@gmail.com, or call landline number 925-2815, or any of the following cell phone numbers: 0918-782-2805 or 0917-332-2454. Thank you!
Have a wonderful week ahead! We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
All the best,
Marites
