Greetings of peace from Manila! I trust this finds you well.
It was a pleasure talking with you over the phone last May 29. I was in Midsayap then with Lisa Ugay of the Balay Rehabilitation, our partner in North Cotabato, for our initial visit to the area as we began our SALAM-SHALOM: Intra-Faith Dialogue for Muslim-Christian Relationship-Building pilot project there. I am deeply grateful to you for your friendship and support, especially during our TAYO-TAYO MUNA Catholic Intra-Faith Dialogue module-writing workshops in Manila with Paring Bert last year. We shall finally be able to pilot the modules for the training of the Christians in this project.
As promised, I share here with you the description of the pilot project for your perusal. I shall later forward to you the training modules for Muslims also. I hope that you would be able to find time to send me feedback on them and let me know how you wish to support the project.
I have copied Fr. Caloy, PB, and our friends in TAYO-TAYO MUNA in this email also. Fr. Caloy was present during our meeting at my home last November with Ruben Habito. He and others might also wish to give their feedback on this project and offer ways through which they can support it here in Metro Manila.
While I was in Midsayap, I had a chat with Fr. Bert Layson, OMI, and he expressed interest in participating in this project. He is now back in active duty to serve the interest of interfaith peacebuilding in those war-torn areas.
Our TPCFI Core Team shall be conducting the INTRA-Faith training workshops in Kidapawan this August--from the 16th-18th for Muslims, and from the 19th-21st for Christians. The Muslim-Christian Interfaith Dialogue training workshops will be held in Kidapawan from the 24th-26th of January 2014.
We would love to have you (or any leader/representative of the Catholic Church whom you may recommend to us) grace the occasion with your presence and encouraging words. The support of the Catholic Church in this project means a lot to us and will be much appreciated.
Once again, thank you so much for your friendship and support! Looking forward to your positive response, I remain
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Marites
