INTRA-Faith Dialogue for Muslim-Christian Relationship-Building in Mindanao

Dear Friends in Tayo-tayo Muna,
Greetings of Peace
Here's sharing with you a
glimpse of our journey into the conflict-affected villages in the
municipalities of Midsayap and Aleosan in North Cotabato. The Peacemakers'
Circle team--represented by Orlan and myself--traveled with Lisa Ugay of the
Balay Rehabilitation Center (our local partner) last May 27 for a four-day
meeting with the Muslim and Christian leaders there.
This is the first
leg of our Mindanao journey as we begin our pilot project on INTRA-FAITH DIALOGUE FOR
MUSLIM-CHRISTIAN RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING in North Cotabato. This is being funded by the
Fetzer Institute of Kalamazoo,Michigan. Professor Ruben Habito (of the Perkins
School of Theology in Dallas, Texas) who recommended us to Fetzer will help
evaluate this project to see how we are able to promote LOVE and FORGIVENESS
among the participants in those war-torn villages.
It is our hope to
inspire the creation of SALAM and SHALOM COMMUNITY DIALOGUE CIRCLES in those
villages. The Intra-Faith Dialogue Circles are meant to help prepare Muslims
and Christians for Muslim-Christian Dialogue and relationship-building by the
end of the training program.
We look forward to the success of our ongoing efforts at interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding not only in the conflict-affected grassroots Muslim-Christian communities in Metro Manila, but also in Mindanao where interfaith peacebuilding is an urgent need. We are deeply grateful for the gift of your friendship, prayers and moral support!
