I encourage members of this list to take another look at Wikispecies,
and comment on what they see as the strengths and weaknesses of
Wikispecies as a player in the bioinformatics game.
One of the major recent developments on Wikispecies is better linking
to references using doi
My own view is that Wikispecies is likely to deliver product of
practical utility much faster than any other currently operational
alternative, and that it should have a role as a data provider to
future database initiatives
What I would like to see is more cooperation aimed at getting specific
groups done to everyone's satisfaction on Wikispecies, as a
prerequisite to using the info in other databases
I also see Wikispecies as a hub, linking to all other web resources.
So, you do a Google search for a taxon, the Wikispecies page comes up,
and from there you can link out to other resources
