I will be traveling 1144.5 miles one way, by car, to have brain
surgery. I will be spending 2 days in the hospital and will need to
stay close to the hospital for at least a week in the event of
complications.
My question concerns the one night we will spend on the road, en route
to the hospital (and again on the way home).
If we stop at a relative's home and the accommodations do not cost us
out-of-pocket, can we claim the lodging?
