Key Agency Spending Overview

The following agencies represent the highest volume of contract award values in the current fiscal cycle:

  • Department of Social Services (DSS/DHS): Focuses heavily on homeless services and shelter management, accounting for roughly 18% of total contract value.

  • Department of Design and Construction (DDC): Primary driver of large-scale infrastructure and civic building projects (e.g., the Borough-Based Jail System).

  • Department of Education (DOE): While having smaller individual contracts compared to DDC, they manage the highest number of contracts (over 3,000) for school operations.

  • Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS): Manages bulk commodities and citywide services like fleet and banking.

Types of Contracts

Contracts in this dataset are typically categorized as:

  1. Competitive Sealed Bids: Usually for goods or standard construction.

  2. Request for Proposals (RFP): For complex services where quality and approach are weighed alongside price.

  3. Human Services: Standardized for non-profits providing social safety net services.

  4. Intergovernmental: Awards given to other state or public authorities (like the MTA or DASNY).

3 “Billion” for jails?!! 1 billion percent that this bid is packed with fraud and kickbacks. It is well known that for jail systems there is no transparency.

Thanks Yoel and everyone,

Yes but the open disclosure is also filled with errors.

They show one so-called nonprofit with $96 trillion dollars in contract awards

I just spoke to my son about it. He’s a rabbi volunteer in Rikers. He said Mandani is pushing to close Rikers and build 5star hotel prisons in each boro, real expensive like glass staircases etc. he said the capacity does not match as all 5 prisons will have 3000 beds whereas Rikers has 7000 so the math doesn’t match. But calculate around a million for a prison Bed.

Hi Yoel and everyone,

We have to expose this by getting more and more people involved in the mailing list etc.

Maybe people have to join together and file a legal process.

We really have to join together and replace these people.
