Thanks for the question! And here's my very first answer of tonight's AMA. There's a lot.
First off, I want to implement universal school streets - that means closing off the roadway to vehicle traffic in front of every single school building in the city, flipping the city's the current approach that requires schools to opt-in.
I was part of the fight in Albany to deliver Sammy's Law, giving NYC the power to lower its own speed limits. And I would fully implement that law. Slower speeds save lives.
I would meet the current Streets Master Plan's mandates and go beyond them.
I was also proud to lead the fight to pass Automated Bus Lane Enforcement in Albany as part of the #FixTheMTA campaign I launched, and I would continue to fight so that every bus is equipped with the same technology. We need to speed up the slowest buses in the nation.
I would bring back year-round outdoor dining; it brought joy and life to our streets, and was a lifeline to small businesses.
Inspired by Bogota and Mexico City, I would explore a regular pedestrianization program on Sundays and holidays. We need a neighborhood-approach to safer streets.
