Hi Ralph!

My name is Micah. I’m a 13 year old from Brooklyn, and I love hanging out with my friends and doing normal middle school things... but I’m also a field lead with Our Time. I’ve been canvassing and phone banking (with support from my parents!) to help organize my neighbors around our Tax the Rich campaign.

I talk to people every week while canvassing, and everyone says the same thing: rent is very expensive, child care costs too much, and the bus they take to work, the same I take to get to school, runs slow and is a costly expense for a short ride.

On Wednesday, February 25, I’m taking the day off school so I can go to Albany, and I’m really excited about it.

Will you join me in Albany?

Our Governor and state reps could make a different choice. That’s why I’m headed to Albany with thousands of New Yorkers — to make sure they hear us.

That day, thousands of New Yorkers from across the state are coming together at the Capitol with one simple demand for the Governor and State Legislature:

Tax the rich for a New York we can actually afford.

I want to be able to afford to live in New York City when I grow up – will you join me?

Join our Albany Takeover

This feels like a day that I can’t miss – and I don’t think you’re going to want to miss it either. Hope you’ll get on a bus to Albany and enjoy a day of action.

See you in Albany,

Micah

Dear Micah,

Rather than advocating for the redistribution of wealth and reliance on public funds, I encourage you to utilize the skills acquired through our public school system to build your own personal wealth.

If you find that the current curriculum prioritizes social education over practical financial tools, I suggest directing your campaign toward the Department of Education. It would be more beneficial to advocate for the integration of comprehensive business education into public schools rather than focusing on the regulation of private institutions.

If the city continues to target high earners, there is a significant risk they will relocate to states like Florida, leaving New York with a diminished tax base. Our collective focus should be on fostering economic opportunity rather than wealth redistribution.

Best regards,

Yoel Friedman
