Just been using the latest version of Cubase and I get screen glitches when I move the mouse over the transport bar at the bottom of the screen, particularly if I move across stop/play/record horizontally back and forth.
Over the last couple of years, Apple has released several Mac computers with a Retina display which offer a much higher display resolution (up to 5120 x 2880) than what was previously available.Any...
is it possible that it is not the cubase core software that causes this but a side effect of a plugin malfunctioning in this version ?
Did you try to disable (e.g. rename the vst3/vst folders temporarily and only keep steinberg plugins active) ?
Also did you try with no template (from a really empty song) ?
Turning off GPU acceleration is not an option for me because it makes (horizontal) scrolling very poor. Such glitches also occurred in the past when switching to ARM. Interestingly, Cubase 11 and 12 are listed as compatible with Ventura. However, the problem only occurs since Ventura. So Steinberg has probably not tested enough here.
I think that the problem is in cubase. New MacBooks has Promotion 120 Hz display. You can set it to 60 Hz in MacOS screen settings and there will be no more flashing in cubase. Seems like this is an optimisation issue.
When running loading large cubase 12 projects the software tells me that it cannot load the audio driver. This can be built-in internal audio driver in my mac, or one of two other audio drivers (focusrite-USB or allen and heath-Firewire).
When this happens I am unable to a) use cubase b) play any other sound on my mac (e.g., youtube gives audio render error, apple music just makes no sound, VLC the same, soundcloud just won't load the page, the spotify app says it's unable to play).
I've been in contact with cubase now and after trying a number of things they told me to contact the audio device hardware manufacturers. They also told me that there is an issue with the audio driver in the Ventura OS.
This does not happen with all cubase projects, only ones which use a significant amount of processing power/memory. I think I have the latest drivers for everything. This has been happening for about 6 months now.
Thank you very much for your response! Unfortunately however, Steinberg had already linked me to this page, but erroneously as the Yamaha USB driver is for silicon-based macs, not intel. Mine is an intel processor so I don't think it's applicable to me.
Steinberg told me to contact audio device driver manufacturers. I don't think this can be from the audio driver manufacturers, because it happens on every soundcard I plug in regardless of the manufacturer. I had a project yesterday which has slowly been growing and growing as I work on it. Today it suddenly has this problem and will no longer work with my audio drivers. It's like the project suddenly becomes corrupted at a certain point.
I think it might be the way my laptop behaves and interacts with cubase when it gets used to it maximum capability. I'm going to try and free loads of storage space as I only have 70GB remaining on my 1TB hdd which is apparently too little. Focusrite have provided some other information on how to optimise macs for audio use and they seem really helpful. I'll update if I find the problem!
