Hi everyone,

I use Aastra phones all over as the provisioning is easy on them. For sake
of pricing and features, now I am looking at Grandstream GXP2130. I am
wondering if anyone can give thumbs up for these phones sets.

Current Aastra sets support VLAN tagging for phone port and separate VLAN
tagging for PC port which is important to me (need to keep networks
separate). I also must have the PC port on the phone. Given this particular
model is priced good, I am inclined to buy that instead of aastra 6731i
which doesn't have AC adapter and must be bought separately.

Are there any specific problems, cons, or pros to Grandstream GXP2130
units? I am looking for field experience.

Thanks,
Bruce

Is there some reason you don't want to use PoE? I've set up enough
phones to know that's the way to go. My concern about the Aastra is
that it's only 100 Mb/s. That's fine for the phone, but since you want
to also use the PC port, it would limit the computer to 100M.

Yealink ftw!

The new t23 has 1Gbps pass through..

James: Two reasons:

1- Huge price difference ~$105 vs ~$85 (20%)
2- More features, color screen, blah blah

Brian: I just looked at Yealink SIP T23GP. Is that what you have tested in
field? Does it work well in terms of VLANs and being able to support
separate subnet to PC port? I would like also of course like to have
whatever an Aastra 6731i can do.

Without sounding like a yealink salesman (I'm not) they're the best
devices I've used. Really nice sip stack. Different Vlan support on both
ports..

They are excellent devices..

What about 1 Gb vs 100M?

Yeah, they look great but I have never used them. I just noticed the 1gig
model, doesn't come with POE and it's comparable to Aastra 6731i so there
is no price difference but advantage for 1gig port which I am not sure if
client needs.

I am assuming provisioning is easy like it is for Aastra?

Thanks for your input.

I always use the Polycom phones. Recently start to using the Yealink
Phones. They are really good. Deployed lots of phones and do not have any
issues.Provision is easy and simple.

Yealink SIP T23GP is a POE phone.

Thanks

We used to use Polycom, then I got an Aastra 6867i, lots of buttons,
Beautiful phone, 5 button BLF/XFer on the left side. Colour Screen also.

Provisioning with OSS Endpoint Manager, or the commercial module if
flawless, and they're Gig POE too. Pricing is very reasonable.

Chad,

Thanks for weighing in. I am not sure if the "rep" phone in Mitel (aka
Aastra) 68 series has any advantages over 6731i, does it? I like how it
stands high but seems like no other improvement.

Regards,

Lloyd,

Thanks for the input. There are quiet few rep phones from yealink that I
see listed on the vendor's list (the one everyone buys from). I am looking
for the best price and nothing less than a 6731i. Which one of the models
do you use in field that addresses the day to day needs? I am tempted to
buy the model lower than 23gp like: *SIP-T21P E2 or SIP-T20P*

Thanks,

-Bruce

I would just be aware that there are some newer models introduced in the last 1.25 years... this likely means that older models might not be around as long as the newer.

We've got about 30 of the GXP2130s in our office. They work quite alright
now, but before the latest firmware update 1.0.4.23 we had some weird
issues, like ringing on the line after initiating a 3-way call. Anyway this
firmware is solid and their support was very responsive in troubleshooting.
Sound quality is good. Web config is good. Grandstream wouldn't set us up
as a partner even though we are an IT shop, too bad because it would have
been useful.

Haven't used much YeaLink stuff, but curious to try.
