I'm somewhat new to VOIP and a total Asterisk newbie and was wondering
if anyone could recommend a reasonably easy-to-setup system for
running Asterisk on Mac OS X? I'm good with the command line (if
that's the only option) but would really love a UI or some other way
to interact with Asterisk.
Currently I have two VOIP lines (Callcentric and Unlimitel) hooked
into a Linksys SPA2102 but want to try and move locally some of the
functionality a VOIP provider might offer. I don't mind getting my
hands dirty, but I'd really like to avoid getting down in the weeds if
at all possible.
Thanks!
Neil

Personally I would find an old PC and install a distribution such as
Trixbox. That comes on a bootable cd that installs CentOS (linux) Asterisk,
FreePBX and a bunch of other stuff.
There are also others that are similar such as pbx in a flash, and
unlimitel's IP-PBX.
This PC doesn't have to be fast. I run my home asterisk server on an old
300Mhz PII laptop. Low power and enough for a few extensions.
You can try this on a virtual machine, but call quality will suffer, and is
really only good for testing.
