I had my first tattoo done on Jan. 13th of this year on my right
calf. The tattoo healed up great, but I've been experiencing a little
bit of swelling on my lower leg & especially my ankle. It's been a
month and I'm still getting some swelling. My job requires me to be on
my feet quite a bit which I know isn't helping. Once I get off of my
feet at the end of the day the swelling will go down. I'm not in any
pain.

My question is does this sound normal, or could this be some type of
internal infection?

Thanks
Chas

When you first get the tattoo, this kind of reaction is normal, but a
month after it has healed? Well, I don't think it's typical, but since
you said you stand a lot it could be that, that is slowing down the
internal healing process. If you don't have any redness around the
area, and the skin surface doesn't feel hot, or extra warm to the
touch, then I think there's probably no infection. If it continues,
and bothers you, then I'd have it checked just for your own peace of
mind.

Thanks for the reply.. I have no redness or warm feeling at all. It's just
the swelling issue.. Yesterday and today their hasn't been any swelling, but
who knows about tomorrow. I don't have any discomfort from the swelling
either. I just notice it when I remove my shoes & socks at the end of the
day.
