A crew in crewAI represents a collaborative group of agents working together to achieve a set of tasks. Each crew defines the strategy for task execution, agent collaboration, and the overall workflow.
Crews can utilize memory (short-term, long-term, and entity memory) to enhance their execution and learning over time. This feature allows crews to store and recall execution memories, aiding in decision-making and task execution strategies.
After the crew execution, you can access the usage_metrics attribute to view the language model (LLM) usage metrics for all tasks executed by the crew. This provides insights into operational efficiency and areas for improvement.
kickoff(): Starts the execution process according to the defined process flow.kickoff_for_each(): Executes tasks for each agent individually.kickoff_async(): Initiates the workflow asynchronously.kickoff_for_each_async(): Executes tasks for each agent individually in an asynchronous manner.
In computationally demanding analysis projects, statisticians and data scientists asynchronously deploy long-running tasks to distributed systems, ranging from traditional clusters to cloud services. The 'NNG'-powered 'mirai' R package by Gao (2023) is a sleek and sophisticated scheduler that efficiently processes these intense workloads. The 'crew' package extends 'mirai' with a unifying interface for third-party worker launchers. Inspiration also comes from packages. Our Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) crew supervisors mentor a crew of five AmeriCorps members (young adults and military veterans) as they develop environmental field skills in a team setting. In exchange, our supervisors develop their own skills through a variety of certifications such as Hazwoper, Pesticide Applicator, Wildland Firefighting, and Wilderness First Responder, along with opportunities in leadership and project management.
We pull from these candidate pools when vacancies occur. A position could open at any time, so we recommend applying as soon as possible. To be considered for multiple regions, you must apply to each regional job announcement.
An associate's degree in Environmental Science or Studies, Forestry, or a closely related field, and one (1) year of experience as a WCC crew member or work that includes emergency response to natural disasters, hazardous spills, firefighting, and/or habitat restoration.
The goal of the Department of Corrections (DOC) community work crew programs is to provide the opportunity to develop good work habits, expand work skills and abilities, work off ordered community restitution, and provide a service to the community.
The Class V: Community Restitution Programs are subject to supervision by the Department and designed and managed to enable individuals on community supervision to work off all or part of a community restitution order as ordered by the sentencing court or the Department (DOC Policy 700.000 (pdf), RCW 72.09.100).
The Class IV: Community Work Industries off-site work crew program is operated by the Department and designed and managed to provide services in the community at a reduced cost. The services are provided to public agencies or nonprofit organizations (DOC Policy 700.400 (pdf), RCW 72.09.100).
The crews typically provide services in farming, reforestation, wood-cutting, land clearing, processing of foods in state canneries, forest firefighting, forest fire suppression and prevention, stream clearance, and watershed improvement. Crews also provide services in the development of parks and recreational areas, and work to conserve the natural resources and protect and improve the public domain and construction of water supply facilities to state institutions (RCW 72.64.050).
Incarcerated individuals in this program reside in facilities owned by, contracted for, or licensed by the Department. A unit of local government provides supervision services without charge to the state and pays the incarcerated individual's wage. Incarcerated individuals who work in off-site work crews do so at their own choice and receive a gratuity which does not exceed the wage paid for work of a similar nature in the locality in which the industry is located (RCW 72.09.100).
The off-site community service program uses contracts to create partnerships with federal, state, county, city, and community government and non-profit groups to employ the incarcerated individual work crews. Currently the following facilities participate in off-site work crew partnerships: Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC), Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC), and Olympic Corrections Center (OCC).
The DNR Correctional Camps Program was established by the Legislature in 1939 (Chapter 220, SHB 242 (pdf)). Corrections has established contracts with DNR to provide incarcerated individuals to assist in forest firefighting, fire suppression and prevention, and other incidents and significant events. The incarcerated individuals that work on DNR crews receive training and job skills in firefighting, chainsaw operation, silviculture practices, sew shop skills, as well as machine and auto mechanics. DNR operates crews at four state prison facilities.
The Washington State Department of Corrections acknowledges that its facilities, offices and operations are on the ancestral lands and customary territories of Indigenous Peoples, Tribes and Nations. Corrections is thankful to the Tribes for caring for these lands since time immemorial and honors its ongoing connection to these communities past, present and future. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the Indigenous populations and communities, and strive to work with our Tribal partners to improve the lives of Indigenous People and non-Indigenous neighbors throughout the state.
Work Crew is an alternative sentencing program designed to reduce jail overcrowding by providing minimum risk offenders a work option to meet court obligations to include: fines, program fees, community service, and jail sentences. In addition to screening, Probation staff monitor the type of work assigned and ensure that offenders complete their assigned tasks.
Offender work crews were developed in response to maintenance needs in the County Parks and overcrowding at the jail. The first crew used in-custody offenders who returned to jail each night. Within six months the program shifted to an out-of-custody program supervised by corrections staff.
Referrals to the work crew program come from the courts and provide sentencing alternatives to serving time in jail, as well as, providing work that is beneficial to the community. Referrals may also come from the State Department of Corrections and other alternative service programs.
Crew Leaders must be committed to making every Crew Member's safe, successful experience their top priority. The duties of a YCC Crew Leader are divided into four main areas: safety, leadership and mentorship, program management and implementation, and administration. These categories correspond with the categories of training that Crew Leaders will receive.
Crew Leaders are responsible for supervising Crew Members on and off the worksite. They ensure that Crew Members are wearing proper uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE), and that they stay hydrated. Crew Leaders also transport crews in seven-eight passenger vehicles around the park and to recreational activities off-site on weekends.
Crew Leaders lead by example and ensure that their crews are following all program rules and guidelines. They also promote individual Crew Member development by creating a healthy teamwork atmosphere that empowers Crew Members to learn and challenge themselves.
Crew Leaders are capable of thinking on their feet, while also investing in advanced planning on and off the worksite to ensure the program runs smoothly. This includes navigating interpersonal issues among the crew, communicating frequently via phone and email with park and program staff, taking pictures, and using a Conservation Education Curriculum to enrich the program.
Crew Leaders complete and submit documentation, including work reports, Crew Member evaluations, program surveys, deliverables, accident reports and discipline forms. They also oversee budgeting and shopping for groceries for their crews.
The period of employment for YCC Crew Leaders will include a week-long training in early June, two 2-week sessions and time in between each session spent at the parks, engaging in professional development opportunities.
To operate and perform in often austere conditions, Devil's Canyon places priority on developing an extremely cohesive team. We expect the best out of each member and rely on collective focus and input to achieve mission objectives. It is critical that we trust one another and understand that team safety and success it the top priority for all. Under this model each member has a specific role to play. The result is safe mission completion, team development, and individual development.
Devil's Canyon is stationed in Worland WY. The crew office and workspace are housed at the Wind River Bighorn Basin District office. We have barracks facility located approximately a half mile from the district office available for our crew members. The barracks were built in 2021 and include individual rooms, communal living area, kitchen, and laundry machines.
Crew and individual development are critical to the operation of the crew. We open each season with a two-week field trip in which we focus on team development and training. Throughout the year we seek out any opportunity to provide additional course training, and operational training assignments as able.
We respond to incidents throughout the western U.S. and occasionally Alaska or other regions. As such environmental conditions vary greatly. Heat, cold, all sorts of precipitation, smoke, dust, and insects are all common. We will typically stay in the field as close to our work as possible. Usually sleeping on the ground, and subsisting on a combination of meals we prepare, MRE's, or food provided by incident logistics. Employment begins mid-May and runs until early October.
