cw-kid thanks, the screenshots of your app is a another level, I have a similar setup as each room has its own amp which powers up through SmartThings also powering the chrome cast audio which is connected to each of them. I had a couple of fire HD8 tablets delivered about an hour ago and the google cast feature through home remote app on them works great
so im used to the old layout where you press the three dot dropdown go to cast then cast options then cast tab. now cast isnt in my dropdown only when im on youtube a icon appears with lines and a music note that lets me cast youtube videos but doesnt give me the option to cast tab desktop or anything other than youtube. whats the deal? how do i cast tabs now?
Support for mDNS discovery in your local network is mandatory for automatic discovery. Make sure that your router has this feature enabled. If mDNS does not work in your network, the IP addresses of the Cast devices can be manually entered in the configuration as mentioned below.
A comma-separated list of Chromecasts that should ignore CEC data for determining the active input. See the upstream documentation for more information. This option is only visible if advanced mode is enabled in your user profile.
This is important when casting TTS or local media sources; the cast integration will cast such media from the external_url if configured, otherwise from the Home Assistant Cloud if configured, otherwise from the internal_url. Note that the Home Assistant Cloud will not be used if an external_url is configured.
Chromecasts can play many kinds of modern media (image/audio/video) formats using the built in app Default Media Receiver. As a rule of thumb, if a Chrome browser can play a media file a Chromecast will be able to handle that too.
You can play MP3 streams like net radios, FLAC files or videos from your local network with the media_player.play_media service, as long as the media is accessible via HTTP(S). You need to set the media_content_id to the media URL and media_content_type to a matching content type.
Extra media metadata (for example title, subtitle, artist or album name) can be passed into the service and that will be shown on the Chromecast display. For the possible metadata types and values check Google cast documentation > MediaInformation > metadata field.
mDNS relies on UDP multicast, which may fail for various reasons. If none of the tips in this section helps, the recommended solution is to ensure all cast devices have static IPs assigned to them and configure a list of known hosts.
When running the Home Assistant Container in Docker, make sure it is running with host network mode. Running without it is not supported by the Home Assistant project, and will cause this integration to be unable to discover to your Cast devices.
If the "Cast" icon is missing when you try to watch Netflix on your Chromecast, it's usually because it isn't on the same network as your mobile device. If you can see and tap the Cast icon, but your Chromecast or TV doesn't appear, follow these steps instead.
If you can't find your Chromecast, or it shows as Offline, you might need to plug it in or connect it to the same network as your phone or tablet. For help, follow Google's steps to connect your Chromecast to another network.
If you can't find your Chromecast, or it shows as Offline, make sure it's plugged in and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your iPhone or iPad. For help, follow Google's steps to connect your Chromecast to the right network.
Let's see if this will help you. On your iPhone, tap Settings > scroll down and tap Pandora > under Local Network, disable and then enable this option (Note: If it was disabled to begin with, be sure it's enabled)
I have had this same issue for years! It usually resolves itself and will work fine for a month or two but then bam all over again. It's extremely frustrating. I prefer to cast directly from the Pandora app versus Google Home voice controls as I have more control over music, stations etc, however when Pandora app won't cast I begrudgingly use GH as it always work. Right now however I am having issues with that. I am tech savvy guy and have tried all of the troubleshooting, unlinking/linking devices, accounts etc. When it works it's great as I have a mix of devices all over the house (2 Vizio sound bars, JBL portable, and a couple minis). I don't want to leave Pandora as I have all my stations finely tuned but if Spotify works perfectly I may be making the switch very soon.
I've been using Pandora on my Google speakers for years and never had a problem. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for years now. Today I switched over to annual billing from monthly (pandora plus) and now I can't make Pandora play on any of my Google speakers on my home. It responds verbally playing the pandora channel and total silence. When I then ask what the name of the song is it only responds by saying, "Pandora is playing right now." when it clearly is not.
I have power cycled each speaker. I have also unlined Pandora to my Google account and relinked it. I'm out of ideas, and am irritated that this happened k. The day the annual billing commenced. I use the voice control way too often to have to come up with a different solution.
I too upgraded to a paid Pandora plan today and suddenly can't cast to my Google Chromecast with Google TV, but I was previously able to cast seamlessly when I had a free Pandora account. This is a very strange bug, handicapping user's experience when they begin paying for Pandora.
I've been trying to Chromecast Pandora from my Google Home App to my tv. I've been able to do this without till just the other day. Now it plays YouTube Music, but I don't even have an account. I have linked and unlinked several times. I've tried changing defaults and going back to Pandora. Nothing is working. Ideas for me?
Yesterday I was on my free trial and I could cast to my Google home speakers. Today I upgraded to continue using the service and now I can't connect to my Google home. I've Uninstalled Pandora app, unplugged my Google home, restarted my app, cleared the storage on the pandora app under settings, gone offline and back online it just keeps telling me it ended the session with my Google home.
Same issue here with the cast icon disappearing from my app. I last cast to my Google Nest speaker on 7/1/2021. Came back to work today and tried to start casting.... to no avail. I updated to the newest app version today, conducted numerous power cycles on phone, disconnected and reconnected Nest speaker from power source and even tried to uninstall and reinstall Pandora app to no avail. Please assist. Have a blessed day everyone!
I've had a problem casting to my google tv boxes. Pandora is the only app that I can't cast. I saw your post saying you had a glitch but I have not been able to cast for several months. I have an old chromecast fob at another house and can cast fine to it.
Transitioning microsoft users to google workspace is a challenge that many of us face. The chromecast feature in chrome browser is a powerful and popular tool. Microsoft doesn't even have a competing product here. Chromecast comes with a frustration though. Legacy microsoft users are overwhelmed by the number of choices and number of clicks it takes to accomplish things.
An example of this that I am facing is then you click cast, you immediately get a list of screens throughout our office. If you want to cast your entire screen, you bypass this, click sources, cast desktop, then come back to select the screen. The actions one must take are actually out of order due the the bypass step.
Googlers will undoubtedly think "what's the big deal." Well, when someone is trying to cast a powerpoint or excel while giving a presentation they feel stupid; forming a lasting bias. Thus this awesome tool that microsoft had no competitor for has now become an obstacle in our digital transformation.
Hey there @Jackdanni. Thank you for bring this to our attention. Casting with VR can be and exciting feature when working properly. We'd wish nothing more than for you to have an effortless experience while casting in VR. We'd love to dive deeper into this issue starting with the following questions:
Unfortunately I have an LG tv which has WebOS, but I do have an Android TV Box (Xiaomi) which has Chromecast built in. I am able to cast to the Android box with other devices, but with the Meta Quest 3, it does not show up when I got to casting. I only have options to cast to PC or Phone.
Unfortunately my Laptop PC will not open the software as it says its incompatible with the graphics card (GTX1650), so I cant view it on my PC screen, only my phone. My Laptop has HDMI out to the TV so if the software worked, that would be great. I dont understand how a phone can view the output, but not my Geforce Graphics card on my Laptop. I did not know phone graphics was so advanced.
So my only option right now is to cast to phone using the Meta app, then use a second app (Google Home), to cast to my Android TV Box. This option works but its very laggy, graphics are bad, and there is a huge "Record" icon from the phone app in the way on the TV all the time.
Surely there is a better way to just cast direct from the Quest 3 to the Android TV Box with Chromecast? Why do we need to go through the phone and 2 Apps to be able to get there? And why is it impossible to even open the software on my PC which has a GeForce graphics card, yet it works on the App on my phone?
PLEASE tell me there is a better way.....this is driving me crazy.
At least there must be a way to remove the dumb "Record" icon off the App on the phone so that we can watch without that being in the way?
Please help.
Update to Factory Resetting: It puts it back to the original firmware, henceforth, primary account can cast. HOWEVER, my headset updated again, and now I can't cast anymore. So, back to secondary accounts to get this going! It's definitely V60's fault.
