Hey -- I'm totally loving Tasque; it's fast becoming indispensable day to day for me. As always though a little feature request :D

While the Remember the Milk sync feature is good, unfortunately RTM only goes so far -- they have a pro account if you want to use all their features so I've been slowly moving across to Google Tasks, which is free and works quite beautifully.

Is there any chance a "sync to google tasks" would be possible?

I don't know if Google has opened up their API, but assuming they
have, it is possible. Somebody just needs to do the work. :-)

Best,
Sandy

I disagree here (not that it's relevant); RTM already has a full-featured task system that blows the pants off of Gmail's in terms of power. (Gmail Tasks may get the slight edge in simplicity.) You only really need a Pro account if you want to synchronize with iPhone/BlackBerry/Windows Mobile (which Gmail Tasks can't do anyway).

No API, yet, but a lot of "me too!"s here: http://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues/issues/detail?id=987

To use the iphone RTM application, RTM force people to be a pro member. Google have created quite a lovely mobile version of tasks that not only edges out RTM's in terms of simplicity and ease of use, they are offering it for free.

You can load the RTM iPhone website too for free. The app is more than a website.

Surely supporting the free way of doing things is in the linux spirit ;)

Sure is, and RTM is similarly devoted to OSS: http://www.rememberthemilk.com/dairy/ I don't think you could claim that either is completely "free" though, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Disclaimer: I pay for both RTM and Google products and services.

Sadly, we cannot do anything until Google resolves this issue.

Thanks for the link,

Please keep replies on the list.

I'm not suggesting Tasque does away with the RTM integration. RTM is a fantastic service -- which I have used for several years -- but with the advent of Google Tasks, a well done, simple and nicely integrated tasks app it would be nice to offer the choice for Tasque users. I was just putting in a suggestion for a new feature.

Yeah, sorry, I hear you there. I expect that Google will eventually release an API for their tasks; like everything else they've done, they build the service from the core.

Yes,  but compared with how nicely the mobile verision of google tasks works, the RTM mobile site is kind of sucky.

I don't really use either as I don't have an iPhone, so I can't compare.

The original authors of Tasque now write iPhone software:

http://appigo.com/todo

From the demos, it looks pretty cool, and reasonably priced.

I have a G1, though, so no love for me. :-)

Nice, that does look pretty good. I've noticed a lot of task applications on the iPhone, but this is the only other one I've seen synchronize with other services (which is kind of a big deal since I don't do most of my task-ing while on my phone). I'll have to compare it to the RTM app if I end up getting an iPhone.

Hm, speaking of, what do you use? RTM doesn't have an app, are there others?

I actually make a concerted effort to not get involved in work stuff
when I'm somewhere with only my phone, and most of the tasks in my RTM
are work-related. Also, I don't usually feel the need to look at my
tasks when away from home (which is also work). So I haven't tried
any of the G1's task apps yet.

Makes sense. I take the GTD mantra and extended it to my personal tasks as well, so I have my tasks separated by work and home (with additional divisions by GTD "contexts"). Tasks in general are actually probably more a personal hobby of mine than my work presently (mostly because my work is driven by customer needs). Probably more than you ever wanted to know. :)
