People,

Thanks for the app to export Google Tasks!

The exported files (ICAL or CSV) look fine in Vim but when I try to import into my other Google account I get:

  Import calendar
  Processed zero events

For CSV I also get:

Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file..

Any suggestions about how to work out what the problem is?

Thanks,

Phil.

Hi Phil,

It appears that you may be trying to import tasks into Google Calendar, but Google Calendar cannot import Tasks. Even though Tasks appear on the the Google Calendar canvas, Tasks and Calendar are two separate Google products.

To import tasks into Google Tasks, you can use Google Tasks Import at https://import-tasks.appspot.com/
GTI can directly import GTBak or Import/Export CSV files exported from GTB.

Incidentally, tasks can also be exported from Microsoft Outlook in a format suitable for importing using GTI by following the instructions at

Cheers,

Julie

Julie,

Thanks for that - I made a bit more progress but now I get:

  Missing 'tasklist_name' column
  Invalid header row:   BEGIN:VCALENDAR

BTW, I haven't EVER used Outlook . .

Phil.

Hi Phil,

That sounds as if you may be trying to import an iCal .ics file using GTI, but GTI is unable to import tasks from .ics files.

GTI can only import tasks from "Import/Export CSV" or "Import/Export CSV" files, as exported by GTB at

Note that the .ics file format supports both tasks and events. Google Calendar uses .ics files to store events, whereas GTB provides the option to export tasks to .ics files for use by other programs.

Cheers,

Julie
