Are you referring to the view at https://mail.google.com/tasks/canvas ? Unfortunately, that view has been deprecated by Google as of April 2019.

I do not work for Google and I have nothing to do with the Google Task HTML Web View.

This is the group for Google Tasks Backup, which is used to backup Google Tasks in various different formats.

Kind regards,

Google fucking killed it without appropriate warning. Any way to salvage the task lists?

Hello nloftis1,

You can use GTB to export your tasks lists in a number of different formats, and you can also use GTB to view your tasklists, in a format suitable for printing,

To export your Google Tasks using GTB;
  1. Go to https://tasks-backup.appspot.com
    • If prompted, click [Authorise] and follow the prompts to allow GTB to retrieve your tasks.
  2. The "Advanced settings" checkboxes allows you to specify which tasks to export;
    • Include completed tasks
    • Include deleted tasks
    • Include hidden tasks
    • NOTE: Most applications and platforms do not support deleted or hidden tasks, so only select these if you know that your platform supports deleted and/or hidden tasks
  3. Click [Retrieve tasks]
    • GTB will retrieve tasks from the Google Tasks server. This may take several minutes if you have many tasks.
    • GTB will indicate how many tasks were retrieved from the Google Tasks server
  4. Choose the desired export format and click on [Export tasks data]
    • I recommend exporting in several different formats to give you the best possible chance of capturing potentially deleted tasks
  5. You can also display all the retrieved tasks in a format suitable for printing;
    • Click [Display tasks page] to display all tasks
    • The top of the page will display the number of completed, incomplete and deleted tasks.
    • If "Include hidden tasks" was selected in step 2, any deleted tasks will be displayed as grey text, with  - Deleted -  displayed below the deleted task.
I hope this helps.

Thanks so much Julie! It's been a lifesaver for my ancient 1500 item task list! I didn't realize your program still works after they started redirecting the webpage!
