Hi!
Recently I discovered taskjuggler, and it seems a fantastic piece of software. Kudos to the devs!

I am generating my tji files using org-mode (emacs). I noticed that all the task are scheduled in a regular working time (8am-5pm, monday - friday). However, in some occasions I would like to schedule  my tasks some hours the Saturday.

How could I achieve this?

Best.

Oh, good question... I just looked through the doc's toc but couldn't find something like "extraworkinghours" or "extrashift". workinghours in project scope cannot specify a date, only week days... so, no idea.

BTW, I also use org-mode with ox-taskjuggler and a make which generates the reports on any file change, together with Organice app for smartphone. It's pretty cool but for my real-world problems the scheduling doesn't work yet – or at least I don't know how to make it work conveniently in org-mode.

One possible solution to fix this "occasional" - in the case you are using bookings to track actual progress, and bookings may work on any day and any time, just specify {overtime 1/2}:

    https://taskjuggler.org/tj3/manual/overtime.booking.html

If this is just per person that occasionally work more than planned.

However if you are planning some period of more/extra work then you can list shifts:

    https://taskjuggler.org/tj3/manual/shifts.resource.html

and declare these "periods" with a proper name why are you doing it .. it may also keep project plan nicer to read afterwards.

Thank you both.

Yes I'm using taskjuggler with my ox-taskjuggler. It seems pretty useful to me.

@Uros. Just a doubt. Where do I suppose to put my bookings? Inside the substree of projects or resouces.

Thanks.

In my case they are added automatically under tasks, ... more details:

For my project management I created a python script that fetches from svn (irreversible proof of work) excel sheets from all collaborators and imports their "progress report" lines as bookings inserted into the project files themselves, via a unique reference which is in our case a ticketing system (open source trac, but any ticketing system could be used as gitlab, jira, ...); before I used aux files to supplement this information; That's how I control actual plan which is then also the actual P&L used to do progress reports, critical path analysis, invoicing, ..

why I decided so:

  • long term project plans often needs to be re-factored, even though I am using three level projection mode, I need to refactor the structure,
  • in this case all the bookings when I am moving "text" around the files is attached to the task and no information is lost;
  • aux files depend on task reference which would during refactoring become lost

I am missing some better connection with the ticketing system to handle (warn) closed tickets there and here, ... and priority management, which are declared specifically in the trac (severity vs. priority matrix) ...

Thanks @Uros.

I'm still learning how to use this software, but your workflow seem very pretty neat to me.

I'll keep it digging in manual and report back if I have some other question.

Best.
