Hi Chris,
thx for providing such a flexible tool like the tj.

I am currently extending a complex tj-project controlled by the tj3d-daemon to better support the financial departments of our group and involved project partners. This requires the aggregation of the leaf accounts differently for different report sheets and should be flexible over different projects to keep the maintenance of project templates simple and use it over the name space of the tj3d daemon.

A tj structure compatible solution might extending the AGGREGATE command for accounts from explicit definition of accouts to use the powerful flags system, i.e. aggregating all accounts which are labelled with certain flags. Is such an approach in the road map already ?

An additional improvement would be the extension of the BALANCE command to a CALCULATE command which enables the use of basic mathematical calculations of (aggregated) variables especially for the needs of reporting including the use fixed variable values. An additional advancement of such a command would be if the calculation could be performed for a defined time interval such as daily, monthly and annually and cumulation over a flexible time interval and in the whole name space of projects combined under the control of the tj3d daemon in order to fit the needs of financial oficers ...

A  for next / while loop for a variable which is used via macro commands to address different flag types to select certain data would be an additonal improvement especially if the aggregation / calculation is performed over the whole namespace of the daemon controlled projects.

The availability of such calculation advancements would enable the extension of tj use for the figures required for a complete flexible  project business plan without the use of other progamms such as spreadsheet tools.

Thx for provding advice what is already possible through workarounds and regarding the other functions for an advanced  wish list ...

Best

Heiko

The accounting functionality of TJ is intended for scoping purposes only. So it's pretty basic by design. Quite frankly, I don't have the resources to implement and validate a more complex set of features. You are welcome to put a feature request in the bug tracker. Maybe other people have a similar need and have a go at it.
