Hi.

I need a bit of help. I'm trying to use Tasker app factory to make a little app which reads certain text aloud and changes the wallpaper from an image found on the /sdcard (not necessarily at the same time, those are two separate features of the app). The action is triggered by a Tasker Plugin called Autoremote (there is a Lite version if you need to test it). It's a simple plugin which gives you a web interface to pass a bit of text to it and set it as a Tasker variable %arcomm.

Ultimately, this all allows me to set any image on the target phone in a certain folder as a wallpaper remotely and have the phone say any string of text I pass it via Autoremote using the TTS engine. I have two profiles on my phone (which has Tasker) and they all work fine directly from Tasker.

However, when I copy them to a project and export them via the App Factory it all stops working. Autoremote still receives the text fine but it seems it is not able to pass it to the apk created with the App Factory. There are no error messages, it just doesn't work.

What could be the issue here? Could changing to a global variable possibly help? Since they are persistent wouldn't the two functions (set wallpaper and TTS) interfere with each other? Is there any way for me to see where the App Factory created app is failing?

Thanks fo help.
Cheers

What version of Tasker/app factory are you currently running?

The last time I complied an app with the app factory it was with Tasker stable 4.1u3 and autoremote messages passed to my app fine and all functioned as expected.

If you are using the latest betas, then this may be an appfactory bug?

I'm using both Tasker and App Factory 4.1u3, latest a stable versions available to me through play store.

So, this definitely should work? Generated apps should play nice with third party plugins? Is there any notable difference in compatibility or functionality between a profile running from Tasker and the same profile running as a stand alone app?

Thanks for your help.

There's a small word on plugins in the app creation doc.

I read that help doc. I judged it doesn't apply to this case since the plugin does pass the config to the profile itself. For example, here is the (edited) profil which sets the wallpaper.

Profile: Wall (33)
        State: AutoRemote [ Configuration:set ]
Enter: Set Wallpaper (30)
        A1: Set Wallpaper [ Image:folder/walls/%arcomm ]

. So "set" is the filter world which triggers the variable being filled with he content of the message (which is the name of the picture). Also, the first response claims that it used to work fine before.

Am I wrong?

They all pass some config. They might store things like passwords etc themselves.

I don't know, ask the plugin creator or try another plugin.
