I recently upgraded to Adroid 15, which may or may not be related. Google pixel 6a.

Android & Tasker are both fully updated. Tasker keeps dying in the background. I've checked everything I can think of to check:

Settings > Apps > Tasker > App Battery Usage > Allow background usage (enabled)
Settings > Apps > Tasker > Permissions > Manage app if unused (disabled)

Not sure what else to try

I am not sure if this is the same as what I'm facing or not... Tasker isn't "dying" per se, just not doing...Tasker things. I have several profiles that are triggered based on the foreground app. Specifically they adjust the screen timeout length and rotation lock. They seem to be getting stuck and not catching that the app(s) in question are no longer in foreground. It seems pretty random and stopping/starting Tasker as well as reboot hasn't made it any better. Usually opening Tasker will force it to work again for some time but it randomly stops working again.

Happy to rest the above build if it might be related :) thank you Joao for all that you do for us 🍻

I'm pretty sure the problem *was* tasker dying in the background, because I could simply open tasker, and switch back to whatever app I was using, and that would fix it. But maybe it was just some kind of weird side-effect. Who knows.

I didn't need to manually download the linked APK. I guess you pushed the same update to the Play store? Cuz I got an update from play store, and now everything seems to be working. Thanks!

@João I am not sure if replying to old threads or starting new ones is the correct method for this forum but I am having this same issue again today. Profile detects foreground app and sets screen timeout to a high number (like 2 hours) and it's not happening consistently today.

App version 6.5.11 doesn't appear to have been updated since June 2025. Pixel 10 Pro XL, Android 16, build BD3A.251105.010.E1

Nevermind, I don't think this is a Tasker issue. The correct app is in the foreground but sometimes when an ad plays whatever that overlay is turns the screen wait off until the ad is closed. I've had this happen occasionally with different apps and only when ads are playing. Sorry for the false alarm :/
