Hey guys,

Iam a complete rookie in this field so I hope my question is not too trivial.

I have the Sleep as Android App on my phone which can start tasks in tasker based on a certain event, like for example me waking up.

I have certain smart home features like plugs and lamps configured in my Google Home App. Is there a possibility to control these things with Tasker and if so, how do I connect these two.

Thanks :)

You could do it like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ek33KPDB-8

If that doesn't work for you, you could have your smartphone near your Google Home and say commands out loud with the "Say" action.

If even that doesn't work and your smart home devices are compatible with Alexa you can use this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVRGDc5bsXA (an Echo is not needed)

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your contact.

If you are using Google home, then the video Joao suggested won't help you much.  You could also use the suggestion he made about having your phone say "Hey Google", pause "do action", but that's a pain in the butt sometimes, especially if you aren't home and want your lights to turn on automatically when you connect to your wifi but haven't gotten in the house yet.

Your best bet will likely be a combination of IFTTT.com and Tasker.  I've got somewhere in the vicinity of 18 smart devices (and growing) and Tasker just can't control them on it's own.  IFTTT is a pay site (very reasonably priced once you understand the power and it has a growing vendor database of compatible devices.  Once you get the flow of the system (a little confusing, but there is good help out there), then you can really go to town with commands and tricks that Tasker just isn't capable of on its own.

Thanks,
Steve

I beg to differ 😅 Most smart home devices that are compatible with Google Home are also compatible with Alexa, so the video could be relevant..

Original post specified Google Home already being used.  But whatever.  Not a real helpful video, regardless.

The thing is, it's irrelevant if Google Home is already being used. You can use the method I mentioned regardless of that.
