Hi all

This may sound weird but I would like to run tasks from outside of Tasker even when it is disabled. Is this possible? Since I'm able to run a task directly (without using profiles) from the Tasker app itself i thought that disabling Tasker is one thing and running tasks is a different thing,

I would like to be able to run a task or enable NFC with a widget or with NFC (Trigger).

Thanks and regards,

Jorge

Not possible. You are to create an app, and run it separately, though.

Tasker has to be enabled to work..
You should be able to use Intents, I tested this once a long time ago from within Tasker and this worked.
i assume this will also work if another app sends the Intent.
Profile - Event - System - Intent Received
More info is in the Tasker Userguide under Intents.

Hi Marta,

I have the task that starts tasker and disables it working.

I've tried to create an app (thanks for the advice) from the task but it doesn't work. It does nothing. I tested with another app and it works, but for some reason, it does not work with Tasker. Do you know if I have to do something special to start Tasker from an app?

Thanks and regards.

hmm, not sure what you are asking, but my thoughts were to create a free standing app with the accompany app factory (on play store).  Then you are able to export the task, project or what ever you created as a app.  Then you may be able to use that with out tasker loaded.   I have no idea if that works for you or not in your particular scenario.  However, if your tasks uses plugin's they too will need to be on the phone too.  Sometimes that is not too obvious for folks to understand.   There is some basic info on the app factory on the tasker wiki that can help you get started with creating your own apps out of Tasker.

That is exactly what I just did: creating an app out of the task with app factory.

What my task does is:

  1. Launch App Tasker
  2. Press the enable/disable Tasker button with the Autoinput plugin.
The task works perfectly but when I exported it to an app, it does nothing.

If instead of Launch App Tasker I do, Launch App Spotify or Google Maps, for example, and I export the task as an app, this app works fine.

In fact I did a modification to the task like this:

  1. Launch App Google Maps
  2. Launch App Tasker
  3. Launch App Spotify
It does launch Google Maps but it does nothing more. If I remove step 2, it works perfectly.

So for some reason the exported app has problems to launch Tasker.

Thanks and regards,

Jorge

How did you launch tasker? I do not believe it is listed in the 'launch app' action. I forget why but this is considered a bad idea.

Well, I don't know if it is considered a bad idea, but yes, it is listed in the launch app action. In fact the when I run the task inside Taker, it runs perfectly (another Tasker window appears). You can try it yourself if you don't believe me :).  The problem is that when it is exported as an app, it doesn't work anymore.

Maybe the app factory is not exporting that Launch tasker action well.

Thanks and regards,

Jorge
