Create a WiFi connected profile. Add a new enter task to send the SMS. Now you obviously don't want that, you want it to send when you exit. So long press on the enter task, and select "move to exit task". I think you might needs to disable Beginner mode in the tasker prefs for that.

Now every time you disconnect it will send the SMS. so you can tune that by adding in the days and the time range as additional contexts.

Is it possible to add a second number to the send SMS command? I was going to add my own number that way I have verification that the SMS was sent. Thank you again.

Your suggestion worked. However, the auto SMS was sent 4 times within 40 minutes. Is there any way to limit the amount of SMS' sent?

Refine your profile so it doesn't disconnect while you're at work. Other than that, there is a cooldown setting you can modify on the profile...

IMHO wifi in mobile devices using some battery saving features, cos even I am connected to wifi, it takes some time when ping respond. I've heard that the best solution for what You need is using wifi near instead of wifi connected.
So please try it.

Hello,
I am new to Tasker and I need some help.
I am trying to set up a profile/task.
Basically, I would like Tasker to send a SMS to my wife when I leave work.
Typically I leave work Fri, Sat, Sun between 7pm-8pm.
The condition is set up as Wifi Not Connected ( wifi network at work) and it will send the message.
Unfortunately, it keeps sending multiple messages when I am not connected to the work wifi network.
Does anyone know who to have it just send once?

I tried using the following profile:

I cant seem to figure out how to set the %HOME variable or what to set it to.
Can anyone recommend how to set this up properly or recommend another simpler profile that can achieve this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You are incorrect as to the power savings here. You also missed the topic of the discussion.

Quite!

Anyway, the thing you need to find out, is it Tasker sending the SMS 4 times, or the phone/network. So, can you check the Tasker runlog to see if the send SMS task was indeed triggered 4 times ? If it was, then we need to stop that happening.

If it wasn't, then there is not much you can do, as it will be out of Taskers control (for example my phone sends the same message a couple of times because the signal is bad at the time it is sent, and the network doesn't acknowledge the message transmission.

If it is Tasker triggering multiple times, then you must be disconnecting and reconnecting from the WiFi multiple times. So you need to find the cause of that, or at least add a workaround to stop it happening. Alternatively, you could set a variable once the SMS is sent, and only send it when the variable is unset. Clear the variable when you get home, then its ready for the next day, for example.

I am using a program called Smart Wifi Toggler which might be causing this issue. Can you advise on how to set a variable once the SMS has been sent?

Sorry I have been away for a few days. All I would do is a set variable command after the send sms command in Tasker. That of course will only mean the send sms command was called, not that it was successfully sent.

If you wanted to get really clever you could set up a kid app on the other phone, and when it receives your particularly formatted SMS, it responds so you know it was received, at which point you set the variable so it doesn't keep sending.

Or you could do it all via autoremote, but that would require data access at both ends to work properly.
