if you click on the downloaded file in the browser on your phone you should get a popup that asks to open it with Tasker, from then on you can import it through the Tasker UI.
or, copy/paste the .prj.xml file in your Tasker/projects dir and then import it in Tasker by long-clicking the home icon or any of the other tabs
if you don't have the home tab, swipe down from the top in Tasker to show the tabs

Just to clarify: the file selector in Tasker to import a project does
not differentiate based on file contents, it shows whatever files the
OS reports as being there.

I've seen some odd cases where some file managers show the file as
being there but Tasker can't see them, I think it comes from the
various locations for 'external storage' when manufacturers include
two types of external storage (Android has no mechanism to handle
that).

I am not able to see a downloaded xml file to import as well.  Is there any workaround for this?  I tried using Tasker as the application when downloading, but this just said that Project was ready for import.

Congrats Pent on more love from the folks at Lifehacker.... again...

I am able to see the file in a file manager, but not from within the Tasker import screen.  I am using a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running ICS 4.0.4

Dom , on the upper right of the discussion you have 3 icons, a chain, a mail and an arrow. Click the mail icon.

Hey all,

Just a quick note that you need to take tasker out of beginner mode to reveal the home button in order to import .prj files. This threw me for some time. This is found in the preferences option in the menu at the top right of your screen.

Then yu can hit the Home button (vbottom left, where the search icon is in beginner mode) to import projects.

Cheers

Lawrence.
